Why you should always keep some fresh water on hand when raising a dog

When raising a dog, you should always keep some fresh water in a fixed spot so that it can drink whenever it is thirsty, before and after exercise, and before and after meals, so that it does not go looking for unclean water to drink. This is especially true in summer and autumn, when the weather is dry and hot, and dogs particularly need to drink fresh water to make up for the moisture lost through evaporation from the body. From the puppy stage onward, if a puppy drinks enough water every day, it will develop normally and have a healthy digestive system. Otherwise, frequent water shortage can easily lead to many problems, such as being more prone to heatstroke in summer.

The water left over each day should be poured out and replaced with fresh boiled water. It is best to give it distilled water, and never give it raw tap water. If the water contains bacteria or unclean substances, it will certainly affect a puppy's health.

Boiled water should not be given to a puppy while it is still hot, to prevent scalding its mouth, throat and tongue. Wait until it has cooled before pouring it into the water bowl.

A puppy should drink some glucose water every day, with the amount being one to two tablespoons of glucose powder mixed with some distilled water. Although glucose is important for replenishing a puppy's strength, it should not be given in excess, otherwise it will damage the teeth.

Sometimes a puppy eats something unclean and vomits; afterward you can also feed it some glucose water. If it has no appetite, it can eat one or two meals of paste for the time being, and drinking water is even more essential.

We must let dogs drink as much water as they like in order to maintain their health and reduce illness. Water in a dog's body evaporates quickly (most of its sweat glands are on the tongue), especially in an active puppy. If we do not replenish it promptly, it can easily cause systemic "dehydration"; this is even more true when it is ill.
