What are the clinical applications of honeycomb?
Honeycomb is sweet and neutral in nature and flavor, slightly salty and bitter, non-toxic, and has the effects of dispelling wind and stopping spasms, detoxifying and healing sores, dispersing pain and stopping itching, and invigorating yang and eliminating impediment; it also has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, diuretic and blood pressure-lowering effects. Before honeycomb is used as medicine, it must be torn into pieces, washed clean with warm water (removing part of the wax), air-dried, then baked dry over a gentle fire and ground into a fine powder for later use; it can be taken orally, or applied externally as a paste or used for fumigation and washing. Clinically it is mainly used in the treatment of the following diseases.
