But in the process of raising chickens, the common diseases mainly include chicken roundworm disease, chicken tapeworm disease, chicken mites, chicken feather lice and chicken diphtheria, all of which cause varying degrees of harm to chicken growth. Once disease occurs, it must be treated promptly to reduce the losses these diseases cause to farmers raising chickens.
The chicken roundworm is a round, pale-yellow nematode that parasitizes the small intestine of chickens, and the worm body is generally 50 mm to 110 mm long. After a chicken gets this disease, egg production drops, and in severe cases there is anemia and even death due to the roundworms blocking the intestine. The treatment method is: when letting the chickens out in the morning, give the chickens 2 tablets of "Quchongjing", and 7 days later give the chickens 2 more tablets of "Quchongjing", and the chicken roundworms can be expelled.
The chicken tapeworm generally parasitizes the small intestine of chickens. It is a white, ribbon-like segmented worm; the large ones are more than 25 cm long, and the small ones are only 0.5 cm to 3 cm long. The scolex has suckers and hooks that pierce and attach to the chicken intestine. When a chicken gets this disease, it gradually becomes emaciated, anemic, and in severe cases dies. The treatment method is: you can give the chickens "Shataoling", and the dosage can be determined according to the chicken's condition. Feeding the chickens betel nut decoction also has a good effect.
Chicken favus is a skin disease of chickens. When a chicken gets this disease, white, fish-scale-like favus appears on the comb, and this disease is spread by contact. The treatment method is: apply calomel ointment to the favus area; or wipe and wash it with baijiu several times a day, and it will heal after more than 10 consecutive days.
Chicken mites. There are about 20 or more species of chicken mites. Among them, the chicken red mite hides in the dark cracks of the chicken coop during the day and crawls out at night to suck chicken blood, causing great harm to chickens. The treatment method is: sprinkle veterinary Xiaomieqing in the chicken coop. Chicken mites include the scaly leg mite, which is very small, less than 0.5 mm in diameter, parasitizes under the skin scales of chicken feet, irritates the skin and causes inflammation, making the chicken feet swell, become deformed, and the toe bones necrose, affecting egg laying. The treatment method is to drip and apply diesel oil to the inflamed area. The chicken knee mite is also very small and parasitizes at the base of the feathers, making chickens itchy and restless, pulling out feathers with their beaks, and in severe cases even pulling out all the feathers and pecking the skin raw. This kind of chicken mite can only be completely eliminated by soaking the whole chicken thoroughly with a 0.5% trichlorfon solution.
The common chicken feather lice include the chicken body louse, the feather shaft louse and the head louse. The body louse is about 3 mm to 4 mm long and mostly parasitizes below the chicken's anus, and also under the chest, back and wings. The head louse is about 2.5 mm long and parasitizes on the chicken's head and neck. The feather shaft louse is about 1.7 mm to 2 mm long and parasitizes on the chicken's wings. These kinds of chicken lice all have a certain effect on the growth, development and egg laying of chickens. Treatment method: crush Shenqi medicinal pens into powder and sprinkle it on the chicken's body, then gently rub it so the powder is evenly distributed, and the chicken lice can be killed. Treat once more after 10 days, and in this way the lice eggs and young lice can all be killed. At the same time, the chicken coop must also be sprayed once with veterinary Xiaomieqing.
Chicken diphtheria is an infectious disease of chickens. When a chicken gets this disease, it has difficulty breathing, does not want to eat, its eyes water or the eyelids stick together and cannot open, and there is pale-yellow or pale-white, foul-smelling mucus in the mouth. The treatment method is: every day use medicinal cotton or a writing brush dipped in iodine tincture or 1% potassium permanganate water to wipe and wash the chicken's mouth, throat and eyelids 2 to 3 times, and after more than 10 consecutive days of treatment it can recover.
