The dark brown bands are relatively wide, with 45 to 60 bands. The belly is grayish-white or yellowish-white, and the dark brown bands are pale in color, with a slight fishy odor. The main production areas are in Xishui County's Caihe, Guankou, Wangcheng and other districts. The dried body of the young many-banded krait is used medicinally. Its nature and flavor are sweet and warm, and it enters the lung meridian. Its functions are to dispel wind-dampness, calm convulsions, and counteract toxins. It mainly treats wind-damp joint pain, paralysis of the limbs, deviation of the mouth, eyes, and nose, scabies, syphilis, malignant tumors, tetanus, and other conditions.

For the many-banded krait, those with a body length within five cun are classified as first grade. However, its head has venom glands containing a strong neurotoxin, as well as hemolytic components and hemagglutinating components. It does not contain hemorrhagic toxin. If bitten by it and not actively treated, one often dies from paralysis within one or two days. Because the medicinal part is the young snake, it cannot reproduce in large numbers naturally, so adult snake resources need to be well protected.
