A Detailed Guide to the Prevention and Treatment of Common Scorpion Diseases
Raising scorpions is a good way for farming families to get rich. During the rearing process, scorpions are prone to diseases such as black abdomen disease, dry wilt disease, scorpion lice and hemiplegia. The prevention and treatment methods are described below:
1. Black abdomen disease: the front abdomen of the scorpion swells and turns black, and then it dies. The cause is that the scorpion has eaten or drunk unclean, foul food or water. The symptom is a swollen black abdomen, and black water or sludge-like matter can be pressed out of the abdomen by hand. The prevention and treatment method is to pay attention to hygiene and remove rotten food or dirty water.
2. Dry wilt disease: the tail (rear abdomen) of the scorpion turns yellow, dries up and then it dies, which is why it is called dry wilt disease. The cause is that the scorpion nest lacks moisture and is too dry, so the scorpion cannot get water for a long time and slowly dries up and dies. The prevention and treatment method is to supply water to the scorpions immediately, and there must be a certain level of humidity in the scorpion nest.
3. Scorpion lice: yellow powder-like parasitic mites appear on the scorpion's body, lurking in the pedipalps, both sides of the chest and abdomen, and the small crevices of the legs and tail. People call these small mites scorpion lice. The cause is high humidity in the scorpion nest. The prevention and treatment method is, when scorpion lice are found, not to add water to the nest, so that the scorpion nest becomes slightly drier; at the same time, pay attention to isolation, and spray with diluted bleaching powder water for disinfection.
4. Hemiplegia: the symptoms of a scorpion suffering from this disease are walking on its side, or walking with the limbs on one side and the second pincer, rolling and crawling along, with no sensation in the whole body, and in the daytime it seems to crawl outward fearlessly. The cause is too much humidity in the nest and excessive steam on hot days. Therefore, pay attention to the humidity in the nest.
