Six things you must do when raising rabbits in autumn
1. Adjust the daily ration. According to the different ages of rabbits, prepare it according to feeding standards, appropriately increase the protein level, reduce energy feed, and require the feed to be nutritious, palatable and easy to digest. Ensure that rabbits have sufficient green feed every day, such as green grass, green vegetables, etc.
2. Build up autumn fat. With abundant feed and complete nutrition, build up good autumn fat to survive the winter safely. Therefore, prepare complete and abundant feed and supply high-quality green feed; feed at fixed times and in fixed amounts, following the principle of feeding breakfast early, feeding dinner late, feeding more green feed at lunch, and feeding at night. Young rabbits should be fed 5-6 times a day, young adult rabbits 3-4 times, and adult rabbits 2-3 times. Supply clean and sufficient drinking water.
3. Focus on breeding. Do a good job in mating non-pregnant female rabbits and mate them in time. During pregnancy and nursing, female rabbits should be fed feed rich in protein, minerals and vitamins. Do a good job at the newborn stage of baby rabbits, feed them supplementary feed earlier and wean them at the appropriate time.
4. Sort out the rabbit flock. Rabbits with strong reproductive capacity, uniform offspring and rapid growth should be kept for breeding. Old, weak, sick and disabled breeding rabbits should be culled immediately. Select and keep excellent reserve rabbits to replenish the rabbit flock.
5. Prevent stress. Add 0.5% vitamin B12, 0.5% vitamin C, and 0.5% sodium bicarbonate to the feed; take appropriate amounts of Houttuynia cordata and Chinese chives, decoct them in water and take the juice, add a little vinegar and white sugar, and let the rabbits drink it freely. This can prevent stress and promote rapid growth of rabbits.
6. Refined management. In autumn, the temperature difference between morning and evening and midday is large, and young rabbits are prone to diseases such as colds, pneumonia, and enteritis. Therefore, group-raised rabbits should be driven back indoors every evening, and they should not be allowed to move outdoors during strong winds or rain. Keep the rabbit hutch clean, dry, and quiet. Wash the feed and water troughs frequently. Regularly disinfect the inside and outside of the hutch with 3%-5% Lysol. Regularly inject rabbit plague vaccine. Regularly add sulfadimidine, anticoccidial agents, and Sanzi coccidiosis powder to the feed to prevent the occurrence of diseases such as parasites. Persist in observing the rabbit flock every day so that problems can be found in time, and achieve early prevention when there is no disease and early treatment when there is disease.
