New Silkworm Variety Officially Passes Variety Approval
The new silkworm variety "Qiantang × Xinchao", bred by the Sericulture Research Institute of the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences (postcode: 310021, tel: 0571-86404188), recently passed variety approval in Zhejiang Province. For this variety, the pupation rate of silkworms from the start of the fourth instar is 94.9%, the cocoon yield per 10,000 larvae is 3.9 kg, the reelable silk length is 755 m, the neatness is 95.8 points, the practical hatching rate is 98.7%, and the silk filament size is 2.5 denier. The average cocoon yield per box of silkworm eggs is 41.3 kg, and the output value per sheet of silkworm eggs is 974 yuan.(
