Cyanobacteria in mussel ponds tend to overproliferate in midsummer; pay attention to prevention and control

Summer has high water temperatures and strong light, making it a season of high cyanobacteria incidence. Once cyanobacteria proliferate heavily on the water surface, the water quality becomes lean; after pearl mussels ingest cyanobacteria, it is not easy for them to digest (cyanobacteria have thick cell walls), and cyanobacteria adhere to the mussels' gills, affecting respiration. At the same time, after cyanobacteria die, protein decomposition produces hydroxylamine, which combines with toxic substances such as hydrogen sulfide in the water and can poison the pearl-culturing mussels to death. Therefore, in summer, the excessive proliferation of cyanobacteria must be strictly controlled, with targeted prevention and treatment. 1. Summer temperatures are high, and at the bottom

1. In summer, temperatures are high and bottom organic fertilizer decomposes quickly, so the amount of manure applied should be reduced and chemical fertilizers appropriately increased. Apply 1 kg of urea per 667 sq m each time or 2 kg of ammonium bicarbonate, with a nitrogen-to-phosphorus fertilizer ratio of 2:1, applying once every 4 to 5 days.

2. Cyanobacteria are mostly distributed on the water surface and can float with the wind to one corner of the water surface. At this time, the pond-draining method can be used to discharge part of the cyanobacteria from the water surface, or fine-mesh nets can be used to remove them manually.

3. When cyanobacteria break out massively and the water quality is lean, "Qingtai Jing" can be used at 100 g per 667 sq m, mixed with water and splashed on. After use, take care not to let the water become oxygen-deficient.

4. If there is stable wind direction and clear weather, "Qingtai Jing" can be used for local splashing of cyanobacteria floating and concentrated in one place. This can not only reduce medicine expenses and prevent water oxygen deficiency, but also kill cyanobacteria and improve water quality. This method should be repeated according to changes in weather and wind direction in order to better control cyanobacteria outbreaks.
