Traditional @#@227@#@ emphasizes the four major elements of "epidemic prevention, feed, disinfection, and management," while current pig farming, in addition to the above four major elements, also requires a good health care system, which is the fifth major element. Regarding the arrangement of these major steps, the previous traditional arrangement had major flaws. Based on the actual situation of the current pig farming industry, we need to have a new understanding of the arrangement of pig farming elements.

Management

Traditional pig farming puts epidemic prevention first, believing that as long as epidemic prevention is done, pigs will not get sick. In fact, this approach is very unscientific, because the production of antibodies in pigs after vaccination is affected by the pigs' physical condition. Without understanding the pigs' physical condition, blind epidemic prevention not only fails to have a good effect, but sometimes achieves the opposite. For example, if some pigs are latently infected with immunosuppressive diseases, they will develop whatever disease the vaccine is meant to prevent after injection. Therefore, before injecting vaccines, the first thing is to determine whether the pigs' physical condition is healthy.

A healthy physique in pigs must rely on our careful management, balanced nutrition, and strict disinfection. Therefore, the first thing we need to do well is management, which means creating a good living environment for the pigs. Only with clean sanitary conditions, suitable temperature and humidity, plus good ventilation, will the pigs have a suitable living space.

Feed

It is not enough for pigs to have only a suitable living environment. The second major element of raising pigs well is to provide pigs with balanced nutritional supply, select high-quality feed, strictly control feed quality, and strictly match proportions according to the nutritional needs of pigs at different stages. A suitable living environment plus balanced nutrition is the prerequisite for a healthy physique in pigs.

Disinfection

A good disinfection mechanism and correct disinfection methods are the third major element that cannot be ignored in pig farming production.

In actual operation, under normal production conditions, the disinfection interval should be controlled at once every 7 days. If there is an epidemic, disinfection efforts should be increased according to different situations, and the disinfection interval should not be blindly prolonged. The dilution concentration of the disinfectant solution must also be diluted strictly according to the proportion; the concentration of the disinfectant solution should not be blindly reduced or increased, as that will not only fail to achieve a good disinfection effect but also cause waste. In addition, the solution should not be replaced too frequently. One type of disinfectant solution should be used for at least 15 days to 20 days or more before replacement, but one type of disinfectant solution should not be used for a long time either, as this will also fail to achieve a good disinfection effect.

Epidemic Prevention

A reasonable immunization program and correct immunization methods are the fourth major element in pig farming production. Why should epidemic prevention be placed fourth? Because only after doing the above three points well can epidemic prevention achieve a good effect.

The formulation of the immunization program should be determined according to the actual disease prevalence situation of one's own pig farm and the location of the pig farm. The selection, preservation, and injection of vaccines must also be strictly controlled. If any operation is improper, it may lead to immunization failure and fail to achieve the desired effect.

Health Care

Doing the above four points well may greatly reduce the incidence of disease in pigs and improve the physique of the pig herd, but it is still not perfect. After all, there are many diseases for which no vaccine is currently available for prevention, and some vaccines are still very unstable with low protection rates. Therefore, in current pig farming production, in addition to consistently doing the above four basic elements well, in the face of increasingly complex pig diseases such as porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus, internal and external parasitic diseases of pigs, porcine circovirus infection, respiratory syndrome, and porcine eperythrozoonosis, farmers are required to pay attention to the long-term health care of the pig herd. Formulating a reasonable and feasible health care program is the top priority in current pig farming production and is urgent.

In summary, when management is strengthened, pigs will have a good living environment; when nutrition is balanced, pigs will have a strong physique; when disinfection is done well, pigs will have reduced contact with pathogenic microorganisms, and the incidence rate will be lowered; when epidemic prevention is done well, the antibodies of pigs will be enhanced, and disease resistance will be improved; when health care work is done well, it can make up for the deficiencies of the above four points.

These five major elements are indispensable and closely linked. As long as each one is done well one by one, the healthy development of the pig farming industry can be ensured.
