General sanitation requirements 1. A lime disinfection trough made of cement must be set up at the entrance of the raccoon dog farm; if conditions permit, sunlight disinfection can be added, as ultraviolet rays have a very good killing effect on anthrax spores and Pasteurella. All personnel should enter and exit through this point, and outside visitors should be controlled. Feeding and technical staff should manage their respective raccoon dog groups, tools, feeding utensils and supplies according to their division of labor, and must not mix them up. 2. The ground of the raccoon dog farm should always be kept clean and dry. Quicklime powder should be spread on the ground of the pens once a week, and feces should be cleaned up once a day and concentrated in a fixed location

General sanitation requirements

Quicklime powder should be spread on the ground of the pens once a week, and feces should be cleaned up once a day and concentrated in a fixed location (more than 300 m away), covered with loess, and after biological disinfection and fermentation it can be used as farmyard manure.

3. Whelping boxes must be disinfected with flame (blowtorch), feeding utensils should be washed twice a day, and water utensils should be disinfected once a week.

4. All kinds of feed must be fresh and free of rancidity; especially animal-based feed must never be spoiled or rotten, and buying feed from epidemic areas must be strictly prohibited.

5. Newly built farms and new breeders introducing raccoon dog breeding stock must observe them for at least 2 weeks, and only after confirming they are healthy and disease-free can they be merged into the large group and brought into the farm for breeding. The work of transferring breeding stock should not be underestimated; it is the key to the success or failure of breeding.

6. If an infectious disease or epidemic situation occurs on the farm, it should be reported promptly, and emergency measures should be taken, with every effort made to diagnose early and extinguish it early, so as to minimize losses to the greatest extent. Such epidemic situations are not common and not prone to occur, but they must be taken with great seriousness.

7. Regularly vaccinating the entire raccoon dog group is the fundamental measure to prevent various infectious diseases. At present, the commonly used vaccines for Ussuri raccoon dogs include canine distemper vaccine, viral enteritis vaccine and encephalitis vaccine; other diseases are uncommon and may not require injection.

8. Commonly used drugs are broadly divided into sulfonamides, antibacterials, cardiotonics, vitamins, antipyretics and analgesics, digestive system drugs, oxytocics, etc.
