Some Chinese and foreign scholars once believed: "@#@246@#@ cannot succeed, and artificially hatched young snakes certainly cannot be raised into large snakes." After 17 years of repeated exploration and practice in self-breeding and self-rearing, Leicun Snake Farm realized this dream 3 years ago; the survival rate from young snakes to over one jin rose from 25% to 42%, and by last winter and this spring it had reached 63%, with the success rate increasing year after year.

Leicun Snake Farm in Xiaoyi Town, Heng County, Guangxi, was founded in 1984 and has been awarded multiple honors by the National Science and Technology Commission and the Guangxi Autonomous Region Science Association, including National Rural Youth Spark Leader Model and Venomous Snake Breeding and Processing Science Popularization Demonstration Base. Through 17 years of continuous exploration and investigation, it has gained rich experience in snake farming and treating snake bites, especially in overcoming snake disease prevention and control and self-breeding and self-rearing technology for snakes, bringing China's snake farming industry to a new level. Whether venomous or non-venomous, snakes raised from hatchlings to the second winter can grow to 1-1.5 jin, with the largest reaching over 2 jin, and each snake can yield a profit of about 80-120 yuan. This not only improves the economic benefits for snake farmers, but also greatly alleviates the shortage of wild snake resources and protects the ecological balance of nature, making it a special breeding industry worth developing.

The following points should be noted in self-breeding and self-rearing technology for snakes:

1. Seed selection: Every spring, healthy, fat female snakes should be selected as breeding snakes. Whether venomous or non-venomous, they generally lay eggs from late June to July. Before and after laying eggs, female snakes should be fed nutritious food rich in calcium, and they should eat and drink their fill as much as possible. Whether the female snake has mated need not be considered; a female snake can produce fertilized eggs for five years after mating once.

2. Incubation: To prevent snake eggs from drying out and becoming sunken, newly laid snake eggs should be promptly placed in an incubation jar for artificial incubation. Temperature must be maintained, regular checks and turning are required, and rats and other pests must be prevented from stealing and eating the snake eggs, with dead eggs removed promptly. Generally, young snakes hatch in 40 to 60 days.

3. Feeding: Young snakes begin eating about 10 days after hatching. Food must be provided according to the snakes' feeding habits, and they can be allowed to feed freely or be force-fed. At this stage, they must be fed well and made as large and strong as possible, otherwise they will struggle to survive the winter. At the same time, attention should be paid to site hygiene and regular disinfection.

4. Hibernation: During hibernation, controlling the temperature and humidity of the snake box is key to whether young snakes can safely pass the winter. An electric light bulb or burning firewood can be used to raise the temperature to 15-18°C. Maintain humidity at 60%-80%, and after winter they can be fed conventionally.

Brief introduction to snake medicine:

Formula One: mainly treats cobras, king cobras, banded kraits, many-banded kraits, etc. Mail order 120 yuan per bottle. Shipped starting from two bottles; instructions available on request. Formula Two: mainly treats hundred-pace snakes, vipers, pit vipers, green pit vipers, etc. Mail order 130 yuan per pack. Shipped starting from two packs; instructions available on request.

Detoxifying and tissue-regenerating formula: For bites by venomous snakes such as cobras and hundred-pace snakes, local ulceration, long-unhealing wounds, and ulcers from boiling water or fire burns, apply externally to the ulcerated area; where there is poison it draws out the poison, and where there is no poison it promotes tissue regeneration. The earlier the medication is used, the better. According to the severity of the injury, 1-3 treatment courses can cure it. The efficacy is especially good, with no sequelae. Each treatment course costs 800 yuan, sparing the suffering of amputation.
