Variety introduction: In the late period of the "Ninth Five-Year Plan", the Flower Research Institute of the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences undertook the provincial Science and Technology Department's science and technology tackling project "Breeding of New Large-flowered Carnation Varieties", and has bred a group of new cut-flower carnation varieties (lines). Some of the new varieties, after small-scale trial planting by flower growers, have shown good production suitability and marketability. Four applications for new carnation variety rights were filed with the Plant Variety Protection Office of the Ministry of Agriculture of China. Among them, compared with Master, currently the foreign variety of the same red series with the largest planting area, Yunhong No. 1

Variety introduction: In the late period of the "Ninth Five-Year Plan", the Flower Research Institute of the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences undertook the provincial Science and Technology Department's science and technology tackling project "Breeding of New Large-flowered Carnation Varieties", and has bred a group of new cut-flower carnation varieties (lines). Some of the new varieties, after small-scale trial planting by flower growers, have shown good production suitability and marketability. Four applications for new carnation variety rights were filed with the Plant Variety Protection Office of the Ministry of Agriculture of China. Among them, compared with Master, currently the foreign variety of the same red series with the largest planting area, Yunhong No. 1 has cut-flower stems 16% longer than the latter, and the bud diameter at the suitable harvest stage is 12% larger; the other new varieties (lines) show obvious differences (ornamental traits) from their respective similar foreign varieties, while their agronomic traits show no major changes, giving them a certain substitutability in production.

At present, there are no reports in China of other self-bred new varieties being used in production. After the transformation of this achievement, first, it breaks the situation in which the cultivated varieties used in cut-flower carnation production are completely monopolized by foreigners; second, the use in production of genuinely protected varieties makes a good start for the healthy development of China's carnation industry and for improving the image of domestic producers; third, it reduces the high licensing fees that must be paid for using foreign varieties; fourth, it eliminates the variety-right barriers when cut-flower products are exported to the international market, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of China's carnation cut-flower products in the international market.

In central Yunnan, simple bamboo-and-wood plastic greenhouses can be used, and in northern China, solar greenhouses can be used, to meet the needs of cut-flower carnation production.
