The amount can be adjusted according to the dog's body weight, with 180-220 grams being appropriate. Do not overfeed, otherwise it will become overweight and lose its cute appearance. The reason the meat must be cooked is, first, to enhance the aroma and stimulate appetite; second, to kill bacteria and parasites in the meat to prevent illness.

The Pug is a relatively greedy breed of dog, so the amount of food provided must be well controlled. Feeding should be at fixed times and fixed locations to develop good eating habits.

Pugs are lively and playful, and must be given a certain amount of time for activity every day to reach a certain level of exercise. However, this dog has a particularly short respiratory tract, and strenuous exercise will cause rapid breathing and lead to oxygen deficiency. Therefore, overly strenuous exercise is not advisable; it is best to take it out for a walk in the morning and evening. When going out, put a collar on it to limit it from running around or engaging in strenuous exercise.

Because Pugs have many folds on the head and neck areas, which easily trap dirt and bacteria, special attention must be paid to cleaning and hygiene when keeping this breed. Normally, bathe it once a month; in hot summer weather, bathe it once every 2-3 days. Pay special attention to cleaning the fold crevices to prevent skin disease or scabies. After each bath, use a soft-bristled brush to brush its coat, and use a hair dryer to dry the fur. On days in spring and autumn when air pressure is low and humidity is high, its wrinkled skin is prone to inflammation and mold growth, so move it to a ventilated and dry environment. In hot summer, when it sweats more, also wipe its body with a damp towel every afternoon, especially to wipe away dirt in the folds.

Because the Pug has a short, flat nose, it easily absorbs moisture and becomes damp, thus breeding bacteria that cause inflammation and ulceration. In humid air and muggy weather, apply some dry boric acid powder to its nose to keep the nose area constantly dry and deny bacteria the conditions to breed. Because the nasal passage is relatively short, in hot summer when temperatures are high, it will experience difficulty breathing and is even prone to heatstroke, so the following points must be noted:

(1) In hot summer, do not take it out at noon, and do not let it engage in strenuous exercise. Walks must be scheduled in the morning and evening.

(2) Move it to a more ventilated and shady place to keep it, and do not let it be exposed to direct sunlight.

(3) At noon and in the afternoon when temperatures are high, if cooling equipment is available, appropriately lower the temperature of its environment. During the rearing process, also pay attention to eye cleaning and hygiene, because this breed of dog has large, round eyes, and dust easily enters them, so use diluted boric acid water to wash its eyes at intervals; generally, the eyes need to be washed 2 times per week. Because there are folds above the eyes that easily cause inward-growing hairs toward the eye, when this occurs, carefully pluck out the inverted eyelashes.
