Analysis of Causes of Jasmine Death in Winter and Key Care Points
Causes of jasmine death in winter:
1. Cold damage: when the air temperature (room temperature) falls below 3-5°C, the plant's physiological functions are damaged; when it drops to 3°C, the whole plant will die.
2. Overly wet potting soil: when the air temperature (room temperature) is below 10°C, jasmine is in a dormant state and its demand for water in the potting soil is relatively low. If watered too much, the jasmine root system remains in an unaerated condition for a long time and is prone to suffocation and death.
3. Overly dry potting soil: if not watered for a long time, jasmine will wither and die.
To help jasmine survive the winter safely, cold protection, warmth preservation and water control must be done well.
1. Cold protection and warmth preservation: when the air temperature drops to 5-10°C, move the jasmine to a sunny spot indoors or outdoors. When the air temperature is below 0°C, you can slip a plastic bag over the flowerpot and its base, and place it in a cool, shaded spot indoors or outdoors, keeping it at 3-5°C, or place it in a sunny spot above 0°C to let it go dormant; every other week, remove the plastic bag to let the plant breathe and ventilate.
2. Water control: only when the potting soil turns pale and feels "hard" to the touch of a finger should you water at noon.
