Fox and raccoon dog mange mite disease must be carefully guarded against in autumn and winter, never be overlooked
In the current season, the breeding of fur animals is entering the fur growth period. In addition to meeting the various nutrients required for fur growth, special attention should be paid to the occurrence of external parasitic diseases. Zhaoyuan Farm has 100,000 foxes and raccoon dogs in stock and has rich experience in the prevention and treatment of lice and mange mite disease. The precautions are introduced as follows:
Pay attention to observation. Skin diseases such as lice and mange mite disease cause great harm to fur animal breeding. They should attract sufficient attention from the vast number of breeding farms and breeders. Especially in the current winter fur growth season, inspecting and preventing mange mite disease is work that breeders must not neglect before pelting.
The symptoms of mange mite disease mostly start from the head, mouth, nose, eyes, ears, chest and claws, and then spread throughout the whole body. The skin becomes red, with papular small nodules, thickening of the subcutaneous tissue, and intense itching. Sick animals scratch the affected areas, the coat falls off, and bloody scratches appear on the depilated areas of the skin. The skin in the affected areas thickens and forms folds, or forms scabs, dry cracks and dandruff. Mange mite disease is extremely contagious and can spread through the air.
Prevention and treatment methods: After sick animals with mange mite disease are found, they should first be isolated for treatment to prevent infection and spread. The main prevention and treatment measures for mange mite disease are: external application and subcutaneous injection of injections. For mild cases, a 1%-2% trichlorfon aqueous solution can be applied to the affected areas, or 15% concentrated iodine tincture can be applied 1-2 times. Some domestic medicinal injections also have a certain controlling effect on mange mite disease. After mange mite disease occurs, it must not be neglected, and the condition must be controlled. Practice has proved that imported Ivomec has a specific therapeutic effect on mange mite disease and various external parasites. For raccoon dogs and adult foxes, the dosage is 0.2-0.5 ml (increase or decrease within this range according to the condition and body weight), and generally one treatment can cure it. Seriously ill animals can be injected again after 12 days. Ivomec can also effectively prevent the onset of mange mite disease. The general preventive dose is 0.1-0.2 ml. When using Ivomec, subcutaneous injection should be used and intramuscular injection is prohibited. Ivomec is generally stored at room temperature away from light, with a shelf life of 5 years.
