Detailed Explanation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Therapies for Ten Major Difficult and Complicated Diseases of Chickens
In production practice, such situations are often encountered: when treating certain infectious diseases, all the "good drugs" have been used up, yet the effect is still not obvious. However, treatment with low-cost traditional Chinese medicine has instead achieved unexpectedly good results. These facts show that traditional Chinese medicine has its unique efficacy in treating difficult and complicated diseases of chickens. The following is introduced for reference.
1 Chicken pullorum disease
Pulsatilla root (Baitouweng), purslane (Machixian), Malianwei, and chebule fruit (Hezi) 15% each; Phellodendron bark (Huangbai), realgar (Xionghuang), talc (Huashi), and ageratum (Huoxiang) 10% each. Usage: mix into feed at a ratio of 3% for prevention. For seriously ill chicks, prepare 0.5g of the medicine per bird, mix with a small amount of feed to make a dough, and administer by stuffing; this method has a cure rate of 98% and a preventive protection rate of 99%.
2 Chicken staphylococcosis
Whole-plant preparation (root, stem, leaf, flower) or root preparation of golden buckwheat (Jinqiaomai). Usage: for prevention, mix into feed at 0.1% and feed continuously for 3d; for treatment, mix into feed at 0.2% and use continuously for 3d-5d.
3 Aspergillosis
Platycodon root (Jiegeng) 250g, dandelion (Pugongying), houttuynia (Yuxingcao), and perilla leaf (Suye) 500g each (dosage for 1000 chickens). Usage: decoct the above medicines, take the liquid, mix with feed, and feed; 2 times a day, continuously for 1 week. In addition, add 0.1% potassium permanganate to the drinking water.
4 Colibacillosis
Pomegranate peel (Shiliupi), Chinese knotweed (Huotanmu), and cholic acid in equal parts. Administer orally at 0.75g per chicken; the protection rate is above 80%, and the survival rate with regular prevention is 95.5%-98%.
5 Infectious laryngotracheitis
Ephedra (Mahuang), Anemarrhena rhizome (Zhimu), Fritillaria bulb (Beimu), and Coptis rhizome (Huanglian) 30g each, Platycodon root (Jiegeng) and tangerine peel (Chenpi) 25g each; perilla (Zisu), apricot kernel (Xingren), Stemona root (Baibu), mint (Bohe), and cassia twig (Guizhi) 20g each, licorice (Gancao) 15g. Usage: decoct the above medicines in water 3 times, combine the liquids, add to drinking water for consumption; this is a single dose for 100 adult chickens, one dose per day, continuously for 3 doses; the cure rate is 98%.
6 Kidney-type infectious bronchitis
Aster root (Ziwan), Asarum root (Xixin), areca peel (Dafupi), Gentiana root (Longdancao), and licorice (Gancao) 20g each, Poria (Fuling), plantain seed (Cheqianzi), Schisandra fruit (Wuweizi), and Alisma rhizome (Zexie) 40g each, jujube (Dazao) 30g; grind into powder, sift, and put into cloth bags for later use. 0.5g per chicken per day, administered in the morning and evening; method: place the medicine in an enamel container, add 20 times the amount of 100°C boiling water, brew for 15min-20min, then add an appropriate amount of cold water. Withhold water for 2h-4h before drinking, finish drinking within 2h, and use continuously for 4 days to recover.
