Disease in feed chickens often leads to elevated body temperature and metabolic disorders; therefore, it is necessary to change the nutrients in the feed, their content, and the feeding method. First, increase the energy level; according to the degree of reduction in feed intake of sick chickens, the energy level should be raised to 1.2 times the normal level. Second, increase vitamin content. The content of vitamin A and B-complex vitamins can be increased to 3 times the normal amount, vitamin E can be increased to 5 times the normal amount, and an appropriate amount of vitamin C and vitamin D3 can also be added. Third, appropriately reduce the fat content in the feed. Fourth, increase the number of feeding facilities and the number of feedings. If possible, the feed can be processed into pellets or mixed with water before feeding to stimulate the chickens' feed intake. Fifth, keep the feed and feeding facilities clean and hygienic to prevent the feed from becoming moldy.

Drinking water: During a chicken disease outbreak, a normal supply of drinking water must be ensured, and the water in the drinkers must be sufficient and clean. If medication is to be administered in the drinking water, first, add drugs that are easily soluble in water and stir them thoroughly; second, calculate the dosage based on the chickens' actual water intake; third, pay attention to the effective time of the drug in water, ensuring that the water is finished or the therapeutic dose is consumed within the drug's effective period. Water should not be withheld before medication is administered.

Management: During a chicken disease outbreak, the ventilation rate of the chicken house should generally be increased to keep the air fresh, but in winter, attention should be paid to insulating the chicken house and minimizing direct invasion of cold wind on the chickens. In summer, efforts should be made to lower the temperature of the chicken house to prevent heat stress. When chickens have respiratory diseases, do not carry out aerosol immunization or disinfection with chickens present.
