How to increase the yield of lilies? Master these four methods
Lily, also known as white lily and lily garlic, has effects such as moistening the lungs and stopping cough, clearing the heart, and calming the mind. It is an economic crop suitable for both medicinal and vegetable use, with relatively high planting benefits. Under conventional cultivation and management, farmers can adopt the following four methods to achieve the goal of increasing yield and efficiency.
1. Chemical regulation method. When lily seedlings grow to 18-20 cm tall, carry out chemical regulation: per mu use the plant growth regulator paclobutrazol 20-50 grams, or mepiquat chloride 10-15 grams, or daminozide (B9) 5-10 grams, or mepiquat chloride 5-10 grams, choose any one, add water 50-70 kg and spray evenly on the lily plants. This can make the lily stems sturdy, enhance stress resistance, and promote bulb formation and growth.
2. Bud removal method to promote stem growth. Except for seed-production fields, during budding in May-June, promptly cut off the flower buds so that nutrients are concentrated on bulb growth, which is beneficial for increasing yield.
3. Alum application method. In early February, before lily seedlings emerge, use potassium alum or ammonium alum 3000 grams per mu, dilute 1000 times, and apply by watering. In years with more rain, apply once more after 7-10 days. In this way, it can promote the differentiation and expansion of lily bulbs and increase yield by 10%-40%. Note that applying potassium alum has a significant effect on potassium-deficient soil; on nitrogen-deficient soil, applying ammonium alum is better.
4. Topdressing trace element fertilizer method. During the growth period of lilies, spray foliar trace element fertilizers rich in multiple trace elements, such as Greenfenwei and Songgang Lüsheng, to provide various trace elements for lily growth. This can make lily plants robust, enhance stress resistance, and promote good bulb growth and development, with significant effects in increasing yield and income.
