Practical Methods for Fattening Stunted Pigs with Chinese Herbal Medicine
First, deworm: decoct 10 g each of Ulmus macrocarpa (Chinese elm fruit), Torreya grandis seed, Quisqualis indica fruit, and Coix lacryma-jobi (Job's tears), plus 15 g of Amaranthus tricolor, in water and feed the decoction.
Then wash the stomach with 1 kg-1.5 kg of 4%-5% clarified limewater, or feed 5-7 tablets of baking soda mixed into the feed. Do this once a day for 2-3 consecutive days.
Next, strengthen the stomach: grind 16 g of hawthorn, 10 g each of malt, Atractylodes lancea rhizome, bitter orange, cuttlefish bone, tangerine peel, and white peony root, and 5 g each of medicated leaven and Atractylodes macrocephala rhizome into powder and mix well; feed 10 g-20 g per pig per meal for 2 consecutive days.
Then fatten for market: carry out fattening one month before marketing: 1500 g of sulfur powder, 1250 g of fried soybean powder, 150 g-250 g of glucose, 50 g of Shizili powder, 35 g of lily powder, and 40 g of Chinese yam powder. Mix the above medicines evenly and divide into 90 portions; feed 3 portions per day (divided into 3 feedings in the morning, noon, and evening). After the pig has taken the fattening medicine for 7 days, passing hard feces indicates the dosage is just right; if the feces are not hard, the dosage should be appropriately increased.
