How to Choose a Maltese Dog? These Tips You Must Master
(1) Before buying, first read materials about this dog breed and have a certain understanding of its temperament and physical characteristics, so that when choosing you have standards to examine it item by item. If the dog basically meets the standards and requirements, it is an ideal breed; if the gap is too large or there are deformities, it should not be purchased.
(2) Check whether the dog's height is within the general limit; whether its weight is within the ordinary standard range. If too large or too small, it should not be purchased.
(3) Observe whether the dog's coat is long and straight, and whether the hair texture is as soft as silk, pure white and glossy. If the hair is too short, too coarse, messy, curly or too thin, it is a defective breed.
(4) Check whether the eyes are large and round with a lively expression, and whether the eyes and the area around them meet the standard of black and dark brown. If the color of the eyes and the area around them is too light, it should not be purchased.
(5) Check whether the dog's nose is smooth and glossy black; whether the ears meet the basic characteristics of being long and close to both sides of the head, with long decorative hair.
(6) Check whether there is long hair on the head, whether there are relatively long whiskers around the lips, and whether the incisors meet the scissors bite requirement.
(7) Check whether the front limbs meet the requirements of being short and straight, the hind limbs short and sturdy, the toes round and hairy and black, and the legs covered with a large amount of long hair.
(8) Check whether the body meets the standard of being short, well-proportioned and compact, with a flat and straight back and waist. Do not buy inferior breeds with a long body and a downward-curving waist.
(9) For dogs with too light nose color, red eye rims, or curly coats, do not waste your money.
(10) Dogs with eye discharge around the eyes, dirty stains around the anus, random barking, listlessness, poor appetite, or messy tail hair should generally be regarded as sick dogs.
