Take mosquito repellent measures in pig pens when raising pigs in summer.
1. Chinaberry (Melia azedarach) branches and leaves for mosquito repellent. Tie chinaberry branches and leaves into bundles, soak them in diesel oil, and hang them above the pig pens with galvanized wire. Soak them in diesel oil once every three days, then keep replacing the chinaberry branches, and the mosquitoes can be repelled.
2. Tomato branches and leaves for mosquito repellent. Gather fresh tomato branches and leaves, mash them and extract the juice, and rub it over the pig's whole body, generally once every 2-3 days; it can also be sprayed with a sprayer. At the same time, some tomato branches and leaves can also be placed in the pig pens, 1-2 times per week.
3. Use fresh mint leaves for mosquito repellent. Gather some fresh mint leaves and mash them to extract juice, mix in an appropriate amount of high-proof liquor, rub it on the pig's body or spray the whole pig pen with a sprayer, and place the gathered whole fresh mint plants in the pig pen, twice per week; if using the juice for rubbing or spraying, it can be done 2-3 times per week, and the mosquitoes in the pig pen can be effectively repelled.
4. Red light bulbs for mosquito repellent. Install one 20-40 watt red light bulb in a pig pen of about 20 sq m, and keep it lit from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.; the mosquito repellent effect is very good.
5. Place cooling balm in the pig pen. Place a small box of opened cooling balm at each of the four corners of the pig pen, and the mosquitoes will stay far away as soon as they smell it.
6. Perfume and scented herbs for mosquito repellent. Mosquitoes fear fragrance; properly sprinkle some essence or perfume in the pig pen to repel mosquitoes; mosquito-repellent scented herbs can also be placed in suitable positions in the pig pen to achieve the mosquito repellent effect.
