Meat pigeon farming has a long cycle; "four synchronizations" improve meat pigeon farming efficiency

Meat pigeons produce a lot of meat, grow fast, have good meat quality, strong disease resistance, and mature early. Meat pigeons have broad sales markets at home and abroad. However, meat pigeons have a long natural breeding cycle and slow production speed, so demand exceeds supply. The new "four synchronizations" feeding technique can be used to raise meat pigeons efficiently.

Meat pigeon

    1. Synchronized pairing.Gather meat pigeons of suitable age, both male and female, pair them at the same time, place them in the same pigeon house, and feed them uniformly. This can save the breeder's time and strengthen feeding management.

    2. Synchronized egg laying. After pigeons are paired, they begin laying eggs in about 8 days. Since the meat pigeons are paired in the same period, synchronized egg laying will inevitably occur.

    3. Synchronized incubation.Number the pigeon eggs laid in the same period, then place them in an ordinary electric incubator for incubation, at a temperature of about 38°C and a relative humidity of about 61%. The timed ventilation work of the incubator must be done well. Place the pigeon eggs in the egg tray with the blunt end facing up, turn the eggs 5-6 times a day, and on the 4th-5th day of incubation, carry out the first candling to remove weak fertilized eggs whose development has stopped. By the 17th-18th day of incubation, the squab pigeons break out of the shell.

    4. Synchronized feeding.Place the hatched squab pigeons in a brooding room for artificial rearing. The brooding room should be cleaned and disinfected, and brooding racks should be arranged, with brooding trays placed on the racks. Spread 2-3 cm thick rice husk or wheat straw in the trays, and raise two squab pigeons per tray. Adjust the feed formula and feeding amount for squab pigeons according to their age in days. The daily ration for meat pigeons aged 1-5 days is: 40%-50% skimmed milk powder, 55%-60% chick feed, plus edible minerals, vitamin additives, and antibacterial drugs, mixed evenly, add 5 times water, and mix into a milky slurry. The feed temperature should be about 35°C, then use a feeder to inject it into the crop of the meat pigeon, 4-5 times a day, feeding 5-7 milliliters per day. After 2 days of age, the feeding amount increases day by day. At 6-9 days of age, the feed composition for meat pigeons can be changed to 25% skimmed milk powder and 75% chick feed, with other additives added in proportion, mixed well, then add 6 times water and mix into a milky slurry. Starting at 10 days of age, reduce the skimmed milk powder in the feed composition for meat pigeons to 3%-5%, and feed 3 times a day. The temperature of the brooding room should be 35°C at 1 day of age, then decrease by 0.5°C each day until it drops to 25°C. Under normal conditions, with this feeding method, after about 18-21 days of brooding, the meat pigeons can be marketed and sold.
