1 Incidence

A case was encountered in which a dog developed vomiting and diarrhea after eating an excessive amount of fish. Based on history taking and clinical examination, it was diagnosed as fish poisoning, and treatment with Qiangli Jiedu Min combined with other drugs led to a rapid recovery.

2 Clinical symptoms

The sick dog was depressed, with head lowered and ears drooping, back arched or curled up, muscle tremors, complete loss of appetite, irregular vomiting with expulsion of gastric food residue. Abdominal pain and restlessness, continuous groaning, and passage of large amounts of loose stool. Body temperature was slightly elevated (38.6-39.2 degrees Celsius), respiration was shallow and rapid, and heartbeat was accelerated (115-128 beats/minute). Urine was scanty and yellow. A preliminary diagnosis of fish poisoning was made.

3 Treatment

Qiangli Jiedu Min 10 mL by intramuscular injection once. Depending on the condition, 1 intramuscular injection every 2 hours. Vitamin B6 4 mL by intramuscular injection. 50% glucose 200 mL and vitamin B1 20 mL administered orally in divided doses. Oral rehydration salts dissolved in water for free drinking. Symptoms were relieved 4 hours after medication. After 8 hours, all symptoms disappeared and the dog basically returned to normal. Follow-up showed complete recovery.

4 Summary

Qiangli Jiedu Min is a traditional Chinese medicine preparation that has a good inhibitory effect on antigens and antibodies, can promote the liver's detoxification function, and is widely used for food and drug poisoning. When rationally combined in clinical practice, it acts rapidly and produces ideal results.
