What are the control methods for common lily diseases?
Several common diseases of lilies: lily mosaic virus, bulb rot, leaf spot, leaf blight, etc.
Mosaic virus is also called lily latent mosaic virus. When the disease breaks out, chlorotic spots or necrotic spots of uneven depth appear on the leaves, the affected plants are stunted, the leaf margins curl, and the leaves become smaller. Sometimes spindle-shaped light brown lesions appear on the petals, the flowers are deformed, and they do not open easily.
Control methods: 1. Select virus-free bulbs for propagation; 2. Strengthen the control of aphids and leafhoppers; 3. Promptly pull out and destroy diseased plants.
Leaf spot disease: when this disease first appears, small faded spots appear on the leaves, and after they expand they become brown spots with dark brown edges. Later, many small black dots form in the center of the lesions, and in severe cases the entire leaf turns black and dies.
Control method: remove the diseased leaves, and spray once with a 500-fold dilution of 65% zineb wettable powder to prevent it from spreading.
Bulb rot: after the disease occurs, brown lesions form on the bulb, and finally the entire bulb becomes brown and rots.
Control method: in the early stage of the disease, irrigate with a 300-fold solution of 50% amobam.
Leaf blight mostly occurs on the leaves, producing round or oval irregular lesions of varying sizes. Depending on the variety, the lesions range from light yellow to grayish brown. In severe cases, the entire leaf dies.
Control methods: 1. For greenhouse cultivation, pay attention to ventilation and light transmission, and strengthen management; 2. In the early stage of the disease, remove the diseased leaves, and spray once every 7 to 10 days with 1% equal-amount Bordeaux mixture, or a 800-1000-fold solution of 50% thiram wettable powder; 3 to 4 sprays are enough.
