Scorpions are traditional medicinal animals. More than 30 kinds of Chinese patent medicines are made with scorpion as the main ingredient. The scorpion is a precious Chinese medicinal material in short supply domestically and abroad. It mainly treats rubella and stroke, hemiplegia, deviated mouth and eyes, difficulty speaking, and spasms of the hands and feet. The scorpion is a precious Chinese medicinal material in short supply domestically and abroad. It mainly treats rubella and stroke, hemiplegia, deviated mouth and eyes, difficulty speaking, and spasms of the hands and feet. China is now able to extract scorpion venom and carry out purification and separation, and it has been tentatively used in the treatment of cancer, heart disease, and nervous system diseases.

In traditional Chinese medicine, the whole dried scorpion used as medicine is called "whole scorpion" or "whole worm." Whole scorpions sold on the market have two processing methods.

1. Salted whole scorpion processing method: First put the scorpions into cold water, wash off the mud stuck to their bodies and help them excrete feces, but the time should not be too long, and do not drown the scorpions. Then, for each 1 kg of live scorpions, use 120-200 g of salt, dissolve the salt in 2-3 kg of clean water, scoop out the live scorpions and put them into the salt water, where they will soon drown. Soak the scorpions in the salt water for 8-10 hours, then scoop them out, clarify the salt water, pour it into a large iron pot and bring it to a boil, then immediately put the scooped-out scorpions into the boiling salt water and cook for 10-20 minutes. Finally, scoop out the scorpions, spread them on a straw curtain or mat, and place them in a ventilated place to dry in the shade; this makes "salted whole scorpions."

2. Light whole scorpion processing method: Add a small amount of salt to an appropriate amount of water, generally using 30 g of salt per 1 kg of live scorpions, bring the salt water to a boil, wash the scorpions in cold water, then immediately put the washed live scorpions into the boiling salt water to cook, and once the water boils again, scoop them out and dry them in the sun; this makes "light whole scorpions."

Salted whole scorpions tend to absorb moisture in summer and easily lose their legs, or even break apart, but they can resist insect damage. Light whole scorpions are more intact, but are easily damaged by insects.
