Cage fish farming in the dog days: humid and muggy conditions make skin rot likely, how to prevent it?

In the dog days, humid and muggy weather makes fish skin prone to rotting; how to prevent skin rot in cage fish farming

Since the beginning of the dog days, with high temperatures and muggy heat, the water quality in aquaculture waters has changed greatly, and bacteria multiply rapidly. The skin of farmed fish is extremely prone to rotting, known as skin rot disease, commonly called "stamp disease". Fish raised in cages are especially prone to skin rot disease.

Symptoms of fish skin rot disease: round, oval or elongated red spots appear on both sides of the fish body. In severe cases, the diseased spots rot away to expose the bone. Skin rot disease is highly contagious and has a relatively high mortality rate.

To prevent and treat skin rot disease, there are three methods. Choose any one; the effect is very good.

     1. Bleaching powder (containing 60% chlorine) for prevention and treatment: use 4 grams of bleaching powder per cubic meter to soak-wash in the cage for 10 minutes, or use 100 grams of bleaching powder hung in a bag once a day for three consecutive days.

     2. Bleaching concentrate (containing 90% chlorine) for prevention and treatment: use 3 grams of bleaching concentrate per cubic meter to soak-wash in the cage for 10 minutes, or use 50 grams of bleaching concentrate hung in a bag once a day for three consecutive days.

     3. Dibromohydantoin (containing 10% available bromine) for prevention and treatment: use 1 gram of dibromohydantoin per cubic meter to soak-wash in the cage for 10 minutes, or use 50 grams of dibromohydantoin hung in a bag once a day for three consecutive days.
