How to store lilies? Keep these key points in mind

Nursery Stock 0 views
Lilies can be stored by the burial method or by the basket (box) storage method. The specific steps are: 1. Pre-cooling: before storage, the lilies need to be spread evenly on the ground to air-dry, so as to dissipate heat. When air-drying, the pile height should be about 2-3 bulb-heights. The air-drying time should not be too long, to prevent the scales from discoloring. After pre-cooling, the bulbs should be selected promptly and stored without delay. 2. Bulb selection: choose lily bulbs that are white in color, large, fresh, round and neat in shape, with plump scales, without fibrous roots, without loose or scattered scales, and with brown scales

Lilies can be stored by the burial method or by the basket (box) storage method. The specific steps are:

2. Bulb selection: choose lily bulbs that are white in color, large, fresh, round and neat in shape, with plump scales, without fibrous roots, without loose or scattered scales, and with brown scales for storage.

3. Disinfection: the containers used for storage should first be disinfected with a 0.5% bleaching powder aqueous solution, and used after being sun-dried. The yellow sand needed should have impurities sifted out and be exposed to the hot sun, and can be used only after being sun-dried. The storage room should keep the containers clean and be disinfected regularly, generally fumigated once every two weeks with about 0.3% formaldehyde and potassium permanganate.

4. Storage: first spread a layer of sand about 20 mm thick at the bottom of the pit or basket (box), then arrange them in the order of one layer of lilies and one layer of sand, and cover the top with sand so that the lilies are not exposed to the air. In this way, the lilies in the sand can both slow down respiration and reduce nutrient loss, and maintain a certain temperature and humidity.

5. Turning the pile: after the lilies are stored, they should not be turned too much. Generally, spot-check once every 20-30 days. When spot-checking, simply follow the order of storage time and turn a small pile first. If problems are found, continue turning; if no abnormalities are found, cover them with sand promptly. If the yellow sand is too wet, replace the sand in time.
