A Detailed Guide to the Control Strategies and Methods for Lily Diseases
Control of Phytophthora blight
(1) Adopt high-ridge, deep-furrow cultivation or ridge planting, and keep the bed surface level to facilitate drainage. When diseased plants are found, dig them out early and burn them in a centralized manner or bury them deep.
(2) Adopt a balanced fertilization technique, appropriately increase the application of potassium fertilizer, and improve disease resistance.
(3) At the early stage of the disease, spray 40% fosetyl-aluminum wettable powder at 250 times dilution, or 58% metalaxyl and mancozeb wettable powder, 64% oxadixyl and folpet wettable powder at 500 times dilution, 72% DuPont Curzate wettable powder at 800 times dilution.
Control of gray mold
(1) Select healthy, disease-free bulbs for propagation. In the field or greenhouse, ensure ventilation and light transmission, avoid planting too densely, and promote robust plant growth to increase disease resistance.
(2) In winter or after harvest, promptly remove diseased and residual plants and burn them, promptly remove diseased leaves and diseased flowers to reduce sources of inoculum.
(3) At the early stage of the disease, begin spraying 30% basic copper sulfate suspension at 500 times dilution, or 36% thiophanate-methyl suspension at 500 times dilution, 60% Fangmeibao No. 2 water-soluble powder at 700-800 times dilution, 50% procymidone wettable powder at 2000 times dilution, 50% iprodione wettable powder at 1000-1500 times dilution. To prevent fungicide resistance, rational rotation and alternating use should be advocated, and spraying should stop 3 days before harvest.
Control of bacterial soft rot
(1) Choose well-drained plots for planting lilies.
(2) When necessary, spray 30% Ludebao suspension at 400 times dilution, or 47% Kasugamycin and copper oxychloride wettable powder at 800 times dilution, 72% agricultural streptomycin sulfate soluble powder at 4000 times dilution.
Control of basal rot
(1) Apply fully decomposed organic fertilizer to suppress harmful microorganisms in the soil.
(2) Carry out rational crop rotation.
(3) Promptly remove diseased plants.
(4) Maintain ventilation and avoid high humidity and excessive heat.
(5) For bulb disinfection, soak the bulbs in 40% formalin at 120 times dilution for 3.5 hours; the control effect is obvious.
(6) Spray 36% thiophanate-methyl suspension at 500 times dilution, or 58% metalaxyl and mancozeb wettable powder at 500 times dilution, or 60% Fangmeibao No. 2 water-soluble powder at 800-1000 times dilution.
Control of lily viruses
(1) Select bulbs from healthy plants for propagation. Where conditions permit, establish a disease-free seed production plot, and promptly remove diseased plants when found.
(2) During the growing period, promptly spray 10% imidacloprid wettable powder at 1500 times dilution, or 50% pirimicarb ultra-fine wettable powder at 2000 times dilution, to control virus-transmitting aphids and reduce the spread of the virus.
(3) At the early stage of the disease, spray 20% Dukexing wettable powder at 500-600 times dilution, or 0.5% Kangduji No. 1 aqueous solution at 500 times dilution, once every 7-10 days, for 3 consecutive sprays.
