How to test the quality of eel fry when purchasing them
(1) Water test method: Put the purchased eel fry into a container, add an appropriate amount of open-air water, and let it stand for 3-5 minutes. Eel fry of poor quality mostly float to the surface.
(2) Shock test method: Remove the eel fry floating on the surface after the water test, let it stand again for 3-5 minutes, then strike the container once with your hand or foot. Eel fry of good quality react strongly, with their heads down and tails up, or try desperately to escape; eel fry of poor quality react sluggishly, with their heads up, tails down, curling, twitching, or turning belly up, etc.
(3) Squeeze method: 1. Use your thumb and index finger to form a ring, and pull it down the eel's body from top to bottom to check whether there is a feeling of obstruction; 2. Press your thumb against the @#@236@#@ abdomen, from the middle to the anus, to see whether there is yellow purulent mucus. If there is, it means the eel fry is diseased.
(4) "Fish" lifting method: Lift the eel and see whether its tail curls upward into a hook. A strong hook indicates a good eel; no hook or a weak hook indicates a poor-quality eel.
