Application of Euonymus japonicus 'Aureo-marginatus' in garden color blocks

Garden construction cannot do without the use of color. At present, red, yellow and green shrubs are commonly used in garden construction to form color blocks, so as to enrich the color composition of the garden. Because plants in red and yellow are relatively few, currently red small shrubs are mostly Loropetalum chinense var. rubrum, yellow small shrubs are mostly Ligustrum vicaryi, while green small shrubs have relatively rich varieties, including Euonymus japonicus 'Microphyllus' and Ilex crenata 'Convexa'. The commonly used Ligustrum vicaryi among yellow small shrubs has its obvious shortcomings: Ligustrum vicaryi is a deciduous shrub of the genus Ligustrum in the family Oleaceae, light-loving, slightly shade-tolerant, not tolerant of drought

The commonly used Ligustrum vicaryi among yellow small shrubs has its obvious shortcomings: Ligustrum vicaryi is a deciduous shrub of the genus Ligustrum in the family Oleaceae, light-loving, slightly shade-tolerant, not tolerant of drought, not tolerant of cold, not tolerant of barren soil. Ligustrum vicaryi can show a very good golden yellow in a sunny environment, but grows poorly under shady conditions, and even less shows yellow, at which time it is no different from green plants and cannot meet the needs of color composition; in addition, Ligustrum vicaryi sheds its leaves in autumn and winter, and when the leaves fall they turn brown, and the color is very inharmonious. We found that Euonymus japonicus 'Aureo-marginatus' can make up for the shortcomings of Ligustrum vicaryi in some respects. Euonymus japonicus 'Aureo-marginatus' is an evergreen shrub of the genus Euonymus in the family Buxaceae, shade-tolerant, drought-tolerant and cold-tolerant. Euonymus japonicus 'Aureo-marginatus' remains yellow all year round in garden color blocks, does not shed its leaves, and is the same under shady conditions. The living environment and site conditions of garden plants are very complex, and objectively the more abundant the plant varieties the better. Euonymus japonicus 'Aureo-marginatus' meets this need and has positive significance for the diversification of yellow plant varieties in garden color blocks. It has advantages under shady, drought and cold conditions that Ligustrum vicaryi cannot replace, and can complement each other with other yellow small shrubs to meet the needs for color blocks in garden construction.
