Nursery Stock 0 views
Impatiens stem rot is also known as Impatiens southern blight. [Pathogen] Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc., a fungus belonging to the genus Sclerotium, subdivision Deuteromycotina. [Symptoms] Brown water-soaked lesions appear at the base of the stem of affected plants, followed by a white silky mycelial layer. In the later stage, sclerotia the size of rapeseed grains can be seen on the rotted cortex at the stem base. [Disease pattern] The pathogen overwinters in diseased plant residues or in the soil, and can be spread by diseased soil, diseased seedlings, or water flow.

[Pathogen] Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc., a fungus belonging to the genus Sclerotium, subdivision Deuteromycotina.

[Disease pattern] The pathogen overwinters in diseased plant residues or in the soil, and can be spread by diseased soil, diseased seedlings, or water flow.

[Epidemic characteristics] High summer temperatures during the rainy season or high humidity, and overly dense plant clumps all favor the development of the disease.

[Control measures] See Orchid southern blight.
