Turbot (Scopthalmus maximus) is a marine flatfish with high economic value and high protein requirements, farmed in northern Europe, especially along the Atlantic coast. A recent research report explored the effectiveness of using concentrated soybean protein as the main protein source in feed. This study replaced 0, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of the fishmeal in the feed with concentrated soybean protein. The initial weight of the test fish was 13 grams. This study replaced 0, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of the fishmeal in the feed with concentrated soybean protein. The initial weight of the test fish was 13 grams. After the trial ended, it was found that replacing 25% of the fishmeal in the feed with concentrated soybean protein did not significantly reduce its finished weight and feed efficiency; it was also found that all feeds with different replacement levels of concentrated soybean protein had the same apparent protein digestibility (apparent digestibility); this study also found that supplementing the feed with methionine and lysine could improve the utilization of concentrated soybean protein by aquatic animals, but did not have a statistically significant difference.
