Prevention Methods and Technical Key Points for Diseases of the European Eel
(1) Do a good job of water disinfection, using effective drugs and methods to kill parasites, viruses and bacteria in the water: ① Evenly splash the whole pond with 0.3 g/m3 (cubic meter) Yuchongqing No. 2 once every 6 days, to kill parasites and eggs in the water and prevent dactylogyrosis; ② Splash the whole pond with 0.2 g/m3 of chlorine-rich disinfectant once every 6 days, to kill viruses and bacteria in the water; ③ Splash the whole pond with 0.3 g/m3 of Manjing once every 6 days, to kill bacteria, fungi and protozoa in the water. Note: the above three drugs can be used alternately; do not use them on the same day. For example: use Yuchongqing No. 2 on day 1, use the chlorine-rich disinfectant on day 2, use Manjing on day 5, use Yuchongqing No. 2 again on day 7, use the chlorine-rich disinfectant again on day 8, and use Manjing again on day 11. Repeating this cycle can effectively prevent diseases of the European eel.
(2) At present, feed for the Japanese eel is generally used in China to feed the European eel, but the Japanese eel and the European eel differ in their nutritional requirements. According to foreign research data, the protein content in feed for the European eel is lower than that for the Japanese eel, while the carbohydrate and fat contents are relatively higher. The European eel's requirement for vitamins is higher than that of the Japanese eel, and its requirement for mineral elements, especially calcium and phosphorus, is also higher than that of the Japanese eel. Therefore, using Japanese eel feed to feed the European eel will cause nutritional deficiency problems, making the European eel relatively prone to bacterial and viral diseases. Therefore, it is necessary to feed a complete formula feed for the European eel, or add eel-specific feed premix to Japanese eel feed, to supplement the deficiency of vitamins and trace elements and improve the disease resistance of the European eel.
