English Setter Buying Tips and Precautions
(1) Before buying, you should first read some materials or books about this breed to gain a preliminary understanding of its external appearance and inner characteristics, so as not to be at a loss when buying, or even mistakenly choose an unqualified breed.
(2) The shoulder height of this breed should not exceed 70 cm. Since puppies are not yet fully developed, around 60 cm is suitable; the weight should not exceed 30 kg.
(3) The head should be relatively long and narrow, the muzzle should be slightly square, the stop should be obvious, and the incisors should meet in a pincer or scissor bite; the nose tip should be black or dark brown.
(4) The ears should be relatively large, hanging down and close to the face and forehead, with the ear set high. The eyes should be slightly round, medium in size, and dark brown.
(5) The coat should be no shorter than 5 cm, silky and wavy. The hair on the face should be relatively short.
(6) The tail should be in line with the back, not curled, slightly curved or approximately saber-shaped, and carried level, with long feathering spreading out in a plume.
(7) The coat should not be a single color; a white base color is preferred; there should be beautiful decorative hair on the ears, tail, and the back of the limbs.
(8) The eyes should be bright and spirited, full of expression and vitality; the dog should move agilely and intelligently, and its body surface should be relatively elegant.
(9) If the head is large, movement is slow, or the ear hair color is not distinct, these do not conform to the characteristics this breed should have, and such dogs are not suitable to choose.
(10) After making the purchase decision, do not forget to ask the seller for the dog's pedigree certificate and vaccination certificates, especially a 7-14 day health and safety guarantee certificate, because with such a certificate, if illness is found after purchase, you have grounds to request a return or exchange.
