Soaking and disinfecting fish bodies with medicated solutions is an indispensable task when stocking fish fry and fingerlings, and is an effective measure for preventing fish diseases. Here are several common preparation and application methods for soaking disinfection solutions.

1. Bleaching powder solution

Prepare at a dosage of 1 gram of bleaching powder per 100 kg of clean water, that is, a bleaching powder solution with a concentration of 10 mg/kg. At a water temperature of 10-15°C, soak the fish for 15-30 minutes. It can kill various pathogenic bacteria on the fish body and has a good effect on preventing bacterial red-skin disease and bacterial gill rot disease.

2. Potassium permanganate solution

Prepare by dissolving 2 grams of potassium permanganate per 100 kg of clean water, that is, a potassium permanganate solution with a concentration of 20 mg/kg. At a water temperature of 10-20°C, soak the fish for 20-30 minutes. It has a special effect on monogenean trematodes and Lernaea, and can kill Gyrodactylus, Dactylogyrus, Trichodina, and Chilodonella parasitizing the fish body.

3. Copper sulfate solution

Prepare at a dosage of 0.8 grams of copper sulfate dissolved per 100 kg of clean water, that is, a copper sulfate solution with a concentration of 8 mg/kg. At a water temperature below 15°C, soak the fish for 20-30 minutes. It can kill various parasites parasitizing the fish body, such as gill Cryptobia, Trichodina, Chilodonella, Trichophrya, and Epistylis, and has a certain effect on preventing fish diseases caused by these parasites.

4. Salt solution

The commonly used concentration is 3%-5%, that is, 3-5 kg of salt dissolved per 100 kg of clean water. At a water temperature of 10-15°C, soak the fish for 10-15 minutes. It can kill Trichodina, Epistylis, Chilodonella on the fish body, as well as bacteria and water mold, etc., and has a good effect on preventing bacterial gill rot disease, water mold disease, and some parasitic diseases.

5. Trichlorfon solution

Prepare at a dosage of 50 grams of 90% crystalline trichlorfon per 100 kg of clean water. Generally soak the fish for 5-15 minutes. It has a special effect on monogenean trematodes and Lernaea, and can kill Gyrodactylus, Dactylogyrus, and Lernaea larvae parasitizing the fish body, and has a good effect on preventing diseases caused by these parasites.

6. Mixed solution of bleaching powder and copper sulfate

Prepare at a dosage of 1 gram of bleaching powder and 0.8 grams of copper sulfate per 100 kg of clean water. First dissolve the two drugs separately in water, then mix the two solutions when using. At a water temperature of 10-15°C, soak the fish for 20-30 minutes. It has a certain effect on preventing both bacterial fish diseases and fish diseases caused by some parasites.

7. Precautions

First, the medicated solution should be used immediately after preparation.

Second, the dosage must be measured accurately; it must not be increased at will, and the soaking time must not be extended at will.

Third, the potassium permanganate solution should not be used under direct sunlight.

Fourth, during soaking, a person must not leave the site; pay attention to observation. If floating to the surface, darting around, or turning belly-up is found, immediately remove the fish and put them into the pond to prevent death from poisoning.
