Detailed Explanation of Prevention and Treatment Methods for Common Diseases in Large-Scale Rabbit Farms
A large-scale rabbit farm mainly follows the immunization program, injecting vaccinations against three diseases: rabbit hemorrhagic disease, pasteurellosis, and clostridial disease. Secondly, prepare complete nutritional pelleted feed according to the nutritional needs of rabbits; feeding moldy feed is prohibited. As long as the feed is stabilized on a rabbit farm, the rabbit herd will stabilize. Rabbit diseases are fewer compared to chicken and pig diseases. However, rabbits are delicate animals with poor resistance; if a rabbit falls ill, it is very difficult to cure. For example, if a pig has diarrhea for 2 to 3 days it will not die, but if a rabbit has diarrhea for 2 to 3 hours it will die. Therefore, it is particularly important for rabbit farms to carry out epidemic prevention and hygiene, and to do a good job in feeding and management, and also to achieve timely inspection and timely treatment.
Through many years of farm practice, a preliminary count of rabbit diseases exceeds 60, but by focusing on the prevention and treatment of eight major common diseases, the rabbit farm can achieve safe production, and the rabbit farm can develop normally and healthily.
I. Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease
First vaccination: at 40 days of age, intramuscular injection of rabbit hemorrhagic disease vaccine 1.5 ml.
Booster vaccination: at 60 days of age, intramuscular injection of rabbit hemorrhagic disease vaccine 1 ml.
Adult rabbits are injected once every five months, 1.5 ml each time.
II. Pasteurellosis
Prevention: Inject the combined vaccine for rabbit hemorrhagic disease and pasteurellosis. Add 20 to 30 grams of olaquindox per 50 kg of feed (can be increased to 30 grams when feeding green grass).
Treatment: 1. Intramuscular injection of Tu Bing Kuai Kang, 0.1 to 0.2 ml per kg of body weight, twice a day, for 3 consecutive days.
2. Intramuscular injection of ampicillin, 50 mg per kg of body weight, twice a day, for 3 consecutive days.
3. Flufenicol: add 10 grams per 50 kg of water, for 3 to 5 consecutive days. Contraindicated for pregnant does and nursing rabbits.
III. Clostridial Disease
Prevention: Use the triple vaccine for rabbit hemorrhagic disease, pasteurellosis, and clostridial disease by intramuscular injection. Add 20 to 30 grams of olaquindox per 50 kg of feed, for long-term use.
Treatment: 1. Add 25 grams of colistin per 50 kg of feed, feed for 3 to 5 consecutive days.
2. Intramuscular injection of toad venom injection, 0.1 ml per kg of body weight, once a day, for 2 to 3 consecutive days (produced by Jiangxi Qiwode Animal Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.).
IV. Bordetellosis
Prevention: Add 20 to 30 grams of olaquindox per 50 kg of feed, for long-term use.
Treatment: 1. One 50-gram packet of Baolijian powder mixed into 40 kg of feed, for 3 to 5 consecutive days (this medicine is produced by the veterinary drug factory of Jiangxi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.).
2. Intramuscular injection of toad venom injection, 0.1 ml per kg of body weight, once a day, for 2 to 3 consecutive days (produced by Jiangxi Qiwode Animal Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.).
V. Mange
1. Miechongding: intramuscular injection of 0.2 ml per kg of body weight (produced by Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences).
2. Ivermectin: add 1000 grams per ton of feed, for one consecutive week, stop for 10 days, then take for another week.
3. Pixuankang: apply externally once a day, for 10 to 15 consecutive days (produced by Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences).
VI. Fungal Disease
1. Griseofulvin: add 250 grams per ton of feed, take for 3 consecutive days, stop for 7 days, then take for another 3 days.
2. Tumeijing: add 10 ml per bottle to 10 kg of water, spray (produced by Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences).
3. Pifukang dissolved in 20 ml of water, intramuscular injection of 1 ml for large rabbits, 0.5 ml for small rabbits (produced by Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences).
VII. Diarrheal Disease
1. Drinking water issues: water temperature too low in winter and spring, and water source contamination.
2. Feed issues: feeding moldy feed and high-energy, high-protein feed.
3. Bacterial infection: (1) Intramuscular injection of Andrographis paniculata injection, 0.2 ml per kg of body weight, twice a day, for 2 to 3 consecutive days. (2) Add 20 grams of flufenicol per 100 kg of water, for 3 to 5 consecutive days.
4. Diarrhea caused by viruses: (1) Intramuscular injection of Chuduqing, 0.5 ml per kg of body weight, 1 to 2 times a day.
(2) Add 50 ml of Baidusha per 100 kg of water, drink for 3 to 5 consecutive days.
VIII. Indigestion
Mainly occurs in young rabbits from weaning to two months of age, the cause being incomplete development of the digestive system and lack of digestive enzymes.
(1) Add 100 grams of compound enzyme per 50 kg of feed, for long-term use. (2) Prohibit feeding high-energy and high-protein feed, and achieve more meals with smaller amounts.
