The layout of a goose farm requires careful consideration; only scientific planning allows for successful goose rearing

1. Site selection. The site should be close to a water source, with the water surface as wide as possible, a water depth of 1-2 m, and good water quality, and a bit far from residential areas; the soil is best if it is sandy loam, with convenient transportation and a south-facing orientation. 2. 3. Overall planning. First, the buildings should be divided into a production area and an administrative area and living area, with the two areas separated by more than 50 m and separated by a wall. The production area and the administrative and living areas should not be on the same prevailing wind direction. As far as possible, make the goose houses face south to favor lighting. In the arrangement of goose houses in the production area, breeding poultry houses and chick houses should be placed in the upwind area of the prevailing wind direction, commercial meat (egg) poultry houses and poultry dissection and carcass disposal sites should be placed downwind, and the manure and waste treatment site is best set outside the farm. The hatchery is best placed in the same wind direction as the poultry houses, parallel to them, to avoid affecting each other. The main roads in the production area should be separated from the sewage and manure discharge channels to ensure the environmental hygiene of the production area. Septic tanks should be built for sewage discharge, and poultry manure can be controllably directed into fish ponds and manure-holding fertilizing ponds.

4. Design of grazing-type goose farms. It should be chosen at the bends of streams and canals; the gentler the slope of the stream and canal banks, the better, so that a land enclosure can be set up directly next to the water enclosure. The natural animal and plant feed in the paddy fields near the poultry houses should be abundant. A grazing-type duck and goose farm should include three parts: the water enclosure, the land enclosure, and the shed. The water enclosure consists of two parts, the water surface and the feeding area, and is mainly used for geese to rest during the day, escape the heat, and be fed. Adjacent to the water enclosure, set up a slightly sloped land feeding area, spread drying mats or plastic film on the ground, and put the feed on the drying mats or plastic film. Above the water enclosure, build a shed for shade and rain protection. The land enclosure is fenced with bamboo-woven square-mesh fencing and is used for geese to spend the night; choose a relatively high and flat place to set it up, and the closer to the water enclosure, the better. The land enclosure is about 50 cm high, and the area depends on the size of the flock. The shed opening faces the land enclosure so that the geese can be watched over at night.
