Artistic bonsai displayed along the Fourth Ring Road, adding new scenery to road greening
The reporter entered the main road of the East Fourth Ring Road from Honglingjin Bridge, and along the way saw that Taihu stones, five-needle pines, canna lilies, Xi'an juniper cypresses, and various miniature landscape pieces and bonsai had all been "moved onto" the Fourth Ring Road (Chaoyang section). Colorful roses, yellow black-eyed Susans, daylilies, and other flowering and foliage plants were arranged in a harmonious and picturesque way along both sides of the route.
In the green belt of the Fourth Ring Road, there are not only "famous flowers and precious grasses" but also Taihu ornamental stones and bonsai miniature landscape works. The long green belt has become a miniature boutique park. The Fourth Ring Road (Chaoyang section) runs from Jianxiang Bridge in the north to Dahongmen in the south, with a total length of 28.4 km. According to Hao Jianguo, deputy director of the Chaoyang District Greening Bureau, this year, in line with the environmental characteristics of the Fourth Ring Road, they broke away from conventional ways of thinking, sought design breakthroughs, and strove to subtly combine cultural landscape with natural landscape. They introduced a colorful boutique greening landscape based on bonsai and with large numbers of flowers planted.
Because the East Fourth Ring Road is adjacent to the Capital Airport, it is Beijing's new reception route, with a total length of 7.6 km. In order to give friends from all directions a fresh and beautiful first impression of the ancient capital Beijing, construction workers from the Chaoyang District Greening Bureau built more than 40 flower beds along the green belts, each 50 cm high and more than 100 cm wide. The flower beds repeat every 120 m. Cultural stone was used in the brickwork of the flower beds. In the beds were planted green foliage plants such as five-needle pines, Xi'an juniper cypresses, and dwarf canna lilies. At appropriate positions in the flower beds were added West Lake stones known for being "grotesque, porous, thin, and exposed," and pots of bonsai of different shapes and colors were presented before people's eyes. Overall, the greening of the Fourth Ring Road completely broke away from the old "hedge" main line of the Second Ring Road and Third Ring Road, and instead took "flowers" as the main line: flowers planted on the ground and flowers blooming on the walls. For roses alone, there are 17 varieties such as Spectrum, Jincheng, and Meilang Zhenzhu, in more than ten flower colors, interplanted with black-eyed Susans, dwarf canna lilies, daylilies, and other flowers. In order to avoid flowers blooming all at the same time, the Fourth Ring Road will also use artificial control of the flowering period to extend the time for people to enjoy the flowers.
