What to pay attention to when fishing in midsummer
I. Preparation before fishing: 1 day before fishing, appropriately reduce the amount of feed, and promptly remove obstacles such as tree branches (stumps) in and around the pond as well as grass residue pollution on the water surface, so that seining can proceed smoothly.
II. Fish at the right time: generally choose the early morning when the weather is relatively cool and fish activity is normal for fishing. Never fish when the weather is muggy and hot or when fish are gasping at the surface or under other abnormal conditions, so as to avoid unnecessary economic losses.
III. Standardize operations: choose nets with an appropriate mesh size, put the net in slowly and pull it out quickly, and minimize the number of hauls; never carry out continuous netting operations. After each round of selective harvesting is carried out continuously for 5-7 days, fishing should be paused for a period before resuming. After the net is gathered and enclosed, small fish that do not meet the standard should be returned to the pond as quickly as possible, so as to avoid injuring the small fish due to excessive crowding and affecting their later growth.
IV. Fill with water after fishing: after fishing, the fish consume more oxygen due to intense activity, and at the same time the decomposition of organic matter in the fish pond accelerates, which also increases oxygen consumption. Therefore, new water should be promptly added to ponds where fish have been caught.
V. Apply medication after fishing: because fish grow faster in the high-temperature season, their scales are looser and are easily damaged by the net during fishing, thereby becoming infected with pathogens and triggering fish diseases. Therefore, bleaching powder must be frequently spread into the pond.
