Prevention and Control Methods and Technical Key Points for Common Multiple Diseases in Pigs
The common multiple diseases of pigs mainly include: piglet Escherichia coli disease, transmissible gastroenteritis, epidemic diarrhea, asthma, and piglet hypoglycemia. These five common diseases of pigs seriously affect the normal growth and development of pigs, hinder the development of the @#@227@#@ industry, and often cause massive pig deaths. Therefore, the prevention-oriented policy of prevention and control must be implemented, and careful prevention and treatment must be carried out to take preventive measures, and one must never take it lightly, so as to ensure the smooth development of the pig industry.
Piglet Escherichia coli disease
Piglet Escherichia coli disease has the following three manifestations: early-onset Escherichia coli disease (piglet yellow dysentery), which is more common in piglets aged 1 to 3 days; late-onset Escherichia coli disease (piglet white dysentery), which is more common in piglets aged 2 to 3 days; and piglet edema disease (red eye disease), which is more common in plump piglets around weaning.
Prevention and control measures
The above three diseases are all caused by pathogenic Escherichia coli. The following two points should be noted in prevention and control:
1. Strengthen the feeding and management of pregnant sows and lactating sows, clean the pens in a timely manner, disinfect regularly, and keep the pens clean, sanitary, and dry.
2. For affected piglets, comprehensive treatment methods such as anti-inflammatory and antibacterial treatment, anti-diarrheal treatment, cardiac support, and fluid supplementation should be used for treatment.
Transmissible gastroenteritis and epidemic diarrhea
Transmissible gastroenteritis (TGE) and epidemic diarrhea (PED), commonly known as winter diarrhea, are both caused by viral infection. The symptoms are mainly gray cement-like diarrhea, vomiting, and dehydration.
Prevention and control measures
There is currently no ideal vaccine for these two diseases, nor are there effective therapeutic drugs. The prevention and control of these two diseases should focus on prevention:
1. Keep the pig house clean and dry, remove manure from the house in a timely manner, and disinfect regularly.
2. After the occurrence of this disease, timely isolation and rehydration treatment should be carried out, and feeding management should be strengthened at the same time to enhance the disease resistance of the pigs.
Asthma
Asthma (bronchitis) is a chronic respiratory infectious disease caused by Mycoplasma.
Prevention and control measures
At present, there is no available vaccine for this disease, and preventive vaccines are still in the trial stage; there are also no specific therapeutic drugs.
1. After pigs become affected, they should be isolated and treated in a timely manner, and the pig farm should be purified at the same time.
2. Pig farms that have not been affected should adhere to the principle of self-breeding and self-raising, and strengthen feeding management.
3. For drug treatment, Mycoplasma cleansing agents, oxytetracycline, or kanamycin, etc., can be added to the feed for treatment.
Piglet hypoglycemia
The cause of this disease is malnutrition in pregnant sows in the later stage or no milk after delivery, which leads to insufficient energy in piglets, thereby causing a drop in blood sugar.
Prevention and control measures
To prevent and control this disease, the treatment principle of "syndrome differentiation and treatment" should be adhered to:
1. Strengthen feeding management, especially strengthen the feeding management of sows in the late pregnancy and lactation periods, and feed nutritionally rich complete feed to meet the nutritional needs of piglet growth and development and lactation.
2. In winter, do a good job of cold protection and warmth preservation in the pig house to reduce the energy consumption of sows and piglets and improve the effective utilization rate of feed.
