Autumn fishing has its finer points: these key tips you need to master
1. Pay attention to weather conditions: Autumn seine fishing must be done on a sunny day, when the weather is cool, around dawn before the pond fish surface for air, because at this time the impact on the pond fish is smallest, and the freshly caught fish can be supplied to the morning market in time. Hazy, muggy weather is not suitable for seine fishing, to avoid causing a large number of dead fish. In addition, when the pond fish are surfacing for air or there is fish disease, etc., it is also not suitable to seine and catch them.
2. Restrict feeding before catching: After fish eat their fill, their oxygen consumption increases, and when the net is drawn to catch them they will be startled, jump and dart away, which easily causes death. Therefore, one day before seining and catching, feeding should be stopped or the amount fed should be reduced. Do not feed large amounts of concentrated feed just to increase the weight of the fresh fish for market, otherwise the result will be more loss than gain.
3. Master the seining method: For ponds with a relatively large area and a dense stock of fish, it is not suitable to seine the whole pond; seining half the pond or 1/3 is preferable. Because the water temperature is relatively high, the pond fish are highly active and consume a lot of oxygen, and they cannot tolerate crowding. When there are too many fish enclosed by the net, it is most likely to cause injured and dead fish. When seining and catching, be quick but careful, and minimize noise to reduce startling the pond fish. After the fish are gathered together, first quickly and gently return the small fish in the net that have not yet reached market size to the original pond, then pick out the large fish for market, so as to avoid the small fish being injured or suffocating to death.
4. Strengthen post-catch management: In a pond after seining and catching, the remaining fish become more active and consume more oxygen, and during the catching process the pond's silt and residue are stirred up, causing the dissolved oxygen in the pond water to drop rapidly, which very easily causes the fish in the pond to surface for air due to lack of oxygen. Therefore, after catching, promptly add fresh water or turn on an aerator to increase oxygen. At the same time, also splash quicklime slurry over the whole pond to sterilize and disinfect.
