1. Temperature. During the vegetative growth period, the temperature is generally controlled at 20-35°C. The temperature required for vernalization of large seedlings is 15-18°C. The temperature requirements from spike emergence to flowering are 18-20°C at night and 25-30°C during the day. The best ornamental temperature during the flowering period is preferably controlled at 15-20°C. The day-night temperature difference is generally greater than 10°C, and a negative day-night temperature difference should especially be avoided. 2. Light. For small seedlings (from removal from the flask to 6 months of age), the light intensity is controlled at 5000-8000 lux; for medium seedlings (6 months to

2. Light. For small seedlings (from removal from the flask to 6 months of age), the light intensity is controlled at 5000-8000 lux; for medium seedlings (6 months to 1 year of age), the light intensity is controlled at 8000-15000 lux; for large seedlings (1 year of age to spike emergence), the light intensity is controlled at 15000-25000 lux; for spike-emerging seedlings, the light intensity is controlled at 25000-35000 lux; for flowering ornamental plants, 5000-10000 lux.

3. Fertilizer and water. Softened water is preferable for water quality. If softened water is unavailable, unpolluted river, lake and well water with an inorganic salt concentration of no more than 0.4 millisiemens/cm may be used, as may unpolluted rain or snow water, which must be left standing overnight in the cultivation facility before use.

For small seedlings, use American-produced Peters (30-10-10) at 5000 times dilution; for medium seedlings, use Peters (30-10-10) and Peters (20-20-20) at 3000 times dilution, alternating weekly; for large seedlings, use Peters (20-20-20) once a week at 2000 times dilution; during flower bud differentiation, use Peters (9-45-15) at 1500-2000 times dilution; from spike-emerging seedlings to before flowering, use Peters (10-30-20) and Peters (20-20-20) at 2000 times dilution, alternating weekly. After the first flower opens, all fertilizers are generally stopped, and only the small amount of water needed during the flowering period is supplied.

4. Pests and diseases. Grasp the principle of "prevention first, combining prevention and control", and spray a mixed pesticide such as Ridomil and Methomyl once every 15 days for prevention. Common diseases are soft rot, anthracnose, gray mold, etc., which can be controlled with agricultural streptomycin, mancozeb, Huishuangte, etc. as appropriate; common insect pests are few, mainly aphids, scale insects, etc., which can be controlled with Methomyl, metaldehyde, etc. as appropriate.
