Chief complaint: The calf climbed onto the cattle trough last night and jumped down from it, and no abnormality was noticed at the time. This morning, the calf was seen unable to stand; when driven, it moved forward while dragging its hindquarters, and the cause was unknown, so it was brought in for medical treatment. On clinical examination, the diseased cattle had moderate nutrition and a body weight of about 100 kg, was depressed in spirits, and lay on the ground unable to rise. When driven, it propped itself up on both forelimbs and dragged both hindlimbs along the ground, falling to one side, and cried out when moving. When the lumbar region was pressed by hand, it was restless with pain, and after needling the hindquarters it was insensitive, with constipation, difficulty urinating and reduced appetite. It was diagnosed as contusion of the first and second lumbar vertebrae.

2. Treatment measures: Acupoint injection was used as the treatment principle. The main acupoint selected was Baihui (GV20), with Dakuai as the supplementary acupoint. First, 25 mg of chlorpromazine was injected intramuscularly. After the animal became calm, the hair around Baihui and Dakuai was clipped and disinfected with 75% alcohol cotton balls. Then a 50 ml disposable syringe was used to draw a mixture of 20 ml of 30% analgin injection, 10 ml of 20 g/L procaine and 10 ml of 0.1 g/L vitamin B12, and this mixture was injected perpendicularly into Baihui and Dakuai at a needle depth of 2.5-3 cm. 20 ml of the mixture was injected into Baihui, and 10 ml into each of the two Dakuai points. At the same time, 2 g of cefalothin sodium was injected intramuscularly as adjuvant treatment, once daily. On the second day, the animal's condition improved markedly; it could stand and eat in a dazed manner, but trembled and could not walk. By the fourth day, the calf could already rise and lie down freely and eat and move at will. On the fifth day, after the injections were stopped, it had completely recovered. Follow-up showed it was normal, with no recurrence.
