Detailed Explanation of Immunization Programs for Common Pig Diseases
I. Immunization program for growing-finishing pigs
(1) 1 day of age: super-immunization with attenuated classical swine fever vaccine; before the piglet consumes colostrum after birth, inject one dose of attenuated classical swine fever vaccine first, and let the piglet consume colostrum 1-2 hours later; this is suitable for farms where classical swine fever frequently occurs;
(2) 7-15 days of age: enzootic pneumonia vaccine;
(3) 10 days of age: infectious atrophic rhinitis vaccine, intramuscular or subcutaneous injection;
(4) 10-15 days of age: piglet edema vaccine;
(5) 20 days of age: intramuscular injection of classical swine fever vaccine;
(6) 25-30 days of age: intramuscular injection of attenuated pseudorabies vaccine;
(7) 30 days of age: intramuscular injection of infectious atrophic rhinitis vaccine;
(8) 35-40 days of age: piglet paratyphoid bacterin, oral or intramuscular injection (in epidemic areas, after the first immunization, give a second immunization 3-4 weeks later);
(9) 60 days of age: triple vaccine against classical swine fever, swine pasteurellosis and swine erysipelas, intramuscular injection at double dose.
II. Immunization program for replacement boars and sows
(1) One month before mating, intramuscular injection of parvovirus vaccine;
(2) 20-30 days before mating, inject dual vaccine against classical swine fever and swine erysipelas (or triple vaccine with swine pasteurellosis added), intramuscular injection at 4 times the dose;
(3) Every spring (March-April), intramuscular injection of Japanese encephalitis vaccine once;
(4) One month before mating, vaccinate once against pseudorabies.
III. Immunization program for sows that have farrowed
(1) Open period: inject dual vaccine against classical swine fever and swine erysipelas (or triple vaccine with swine pasteurellosis added), intramuscular injection at 4 times the dose;
(2) Intramuscular injection of inactivated parvovirus vaccine once a year; after three years, it may be omitted;
(3) Intramuscular injection of Japanese encephalitis vaccine once every spring in March-April; after three years, it may be omitted;
(4) 2 weeks before farrowing, intramuscular injection of inactivated enzootic pneumonia vaccine;
(5) 45 days and 15 days before farrowing, inject K88, K99 and 987p Escherichia coli vaccines respectively;
(6) 45 days before farrowing, intramuscular injection of dual vaccine against transmissible gastroenteritis and epidemic diarrhea;
(7) 35 days before farrowing, subcutaneous injection of inactivated infectious atrophic rhinitis vaccine;
(8) 30 days before farrowing, intramuscular injection of piglet red diarrhea vaccine;
(9) 25 days before farrowing, intramuscular injection of dual vaccine against transmissible gastroenteritis and epidemic diarrhea;
(10) 13 days before farrowing, intramuscular injection of inactivated pseudorabies vaccine.
IV. Immunization program for breeding boars
(1) After completing immunization during the piglet stage, inject dual vaccine against classical swine fever and swine erysipelas (or triple vaccine with swine pasteurellosis added) once each in spring and autumn every year, intramuscular injection at 4 times the dose;
(2) Intramuscular injection of Japanese encephalitis vaccine once every year in March-April; after three years, it may be omitted;
(3) Intramuscular injection of inactivated enzootic pneumonia vaccine twice a year;
(4) Intramuscular injection of pseudorabies vaccine once each in spring and autumn;
(5) Intramuscular injection of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome vaccine twice a year.
V. Prevention of other diseases
1. Foot-and-mouth disease: In frequently affected areas: conventional inactivated vaccine, first immunization at 35 days of age, second immunization at 90 days of age, then immunize once every 3 months; high-efficiency inactivated vaccine, first immunization at 35 days of age, second immunization at 180 days of age, then immunize once every 6 months. In areas where it does not frequently occur: conventional inactivated vaccine, immunize once each in September and December of the current year and January of the following year; high-efficiency inactivated vaccine, immunize once each in September of the current year and January of the following year.
2. Porcine contagious pleuropneumonia: piglets are immunized once each at 1, 3 and 5 weeks.
3. Swine streptococcosis: adult sows are immunized once each in spring and autumn every year; piglets receive the first immunization at 10 days of age and the second immunization at 60 days of age, or the first immunization 24 hours after birth and the second immunization 2 weeks after weaning.
