Detailed Explanation of Key Cultivation Techniques for Cnidium monnieri
Cnidium monnieri, also known as wild carrot seed, belongs to the Apiaceae family. Its seeds are used medicinally and are in high market demand.
Adaptability: Cnidium monnieri is cold-tolerant and drought-tolerant, not demanding regarding soil, and highly adaptable.
Cultivation techniques: It can be sown in spring, summer, and winter. Seed treatment: Before sowing, soak the seeds in water for 12 hours, mix thoroughly with 2 times their volume of moist sand, and sow after 2-3 days. During treatment, stir regularly to keep temperature and moisture uniform throughout. Winter sowing does not require seed treatment. Regardless of the season, first level the plot and water it, and once the bed has dried to a suitable degree, use an iron rake to smooth the loose surface soil, open shallow furrows 1-2 cm deep at a row spacing of 24 cm, evenly broadcast the seeds into the furrows, then rake level and water. Seedlings generally emerge in 7-10 days.
During the growing period, water timely if there is drought. Cnidium monnieri grows quickly; in the first year of cultivation, do not apply chemical fertilizer to avoid lodging. It can be planted twice in succession in one year, and the second planting does not require sowing seeds again.
Harvesting and processing: From sowing to harvest takes 3 months. Those sown around the Start of Winter are harvested in mid-June, spring-sown ones in mid-July, and summer-sown ones in mid-September. Cut the whole plant, sun-dry it, thresh out the seeds, and remove all impurities to obtain the finished product.
