In this season, many families with pets surely also hope their beloved fur babies can stay healthy and well, but recently they keep finding that their pets are either coughing or having diarrhea, which worries pet owners terribly, so here we introduce some knowledge about spring pet care. 1. In this season, many families with pets surely also hope their beloved fur babies can stay healthy and well, but recently they keep finding that their pets are either coughing or having diarrhea, which worries pet owners terribly, so here we introduce some knowledge about spring pet care.

1. Transmission routes of spring diseases

1. Airborne transmission;

In spring, the wind in Beijing is relatively strong, and there are often sandstorm days. Pet feces, after being weathered over a winter, become relatively dry, while infectious diseases, parasites, and parvovirus, etc. can still remain infectious within a year. The wind will blow animal feces far away, expanding the range in which animals can become infected.

2. Direct contact transmission;

In spring, respiratory diseases are predominant, mainly transmitted through contact between animals, especially puppies; they will lick each other's bodies, which is the most direct route of transmission.

3. Indirect contact transmission;

When animals do not come into direct contact, diseases are spread through people. For example, some people touch one family's dog and then another family's dog, and finally touch their own dog. Especially children, who pay even less attention to hygiene, make their hands the most direct route of transmission.

2. Common spring diseases and their prevention and treatment

1. Coughing: There are two kinds of coughing. One is caused by cold air irritating the nasal mucosa, causing the animal to cough. This kind of cough is not viral; it is simply caused by dry air. Generally, you can place a humidifier in the home to keep moisture in the air, or use some amoxicillin or banlangen (Isatis root). The other is infectious rhinotracheitis, also called kennel cough. This kind of cough is often accompanied by a runny nose and requires treatment at an animal hospital. If the animal only coughs at night, it may be caused by large temperature changes at night; as long as you pay attention to keeping it warm at night, that is enough.

2. Vomiting: If a cat vomits, it may be feline distemper, or it may be vomiting up hair; if a dog vomits, it may be parvovirus or simply eating too much.

If it is vomiting up hair, just give the animal some dog's tail grass or hairball paste, but if feline distemper or parvovirus is suspected, then it is necessary to promptly seek treatment at a pet hospital.

3. Diarrhea: Dogs are prone to diarrhea. There are usually several situations:

① Overfeeding: the animal's feces will contain undigested food. Pay attention to the animal's diet, feed less food, and have it drink more water, and that is enough. If the effect is not good, you can try vitamin B; a dog takes one tablet, and a cat takes half a tablet.

② Acute enteritis: the animal's feces are generally black or dark green. You can feed it some gentamicin and compound vitamin B.

③ Caused by infectious disease: if it is a cat or dog that has not been vaccinated, then it is necessary to go to the hospital for testing and then prescribe the right medicine according to the symptoms.

④ Caused by parasites: if the animal's stool sometimes is dry and sometimes loose, then it is time for deworming.

4. Excessive eye discharge: First, you can check whether hair has poked into the eyes, causing irritation to the eye area. If there are small pits around the eyes, then it may have been scratched by a cat, or scraped by something. You should promptly go to the hospital for examination and treatment. Of course, sometimes internal heat can also cause more eye discharge.

There are many diseases in small animals in spring. Please pay attention to your dog, and I hope they stay healthy.
