Detailed Explanation of Systematic Prevention Methods for Fish and Shrimp Diseases

Systematic prevention of fish and shrimp diseases refers to taking preventive measures from the fry stocking stage until before the adult fish are harvested, consistently controlling the occurrence and development of fish diseases. The occurrence of fish and shrimp diseases is the result of the combined action of the organism and external factors, among which infection by pathogenic microorganisms is an important factor leading to fish and shrimp disease. Since the aquaculture water environment contains pathogenic microorganisms such as viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites, once the environment deteriorates and the resistance of the fish and shrimp organism declines, pathogenic microorganisms will massively invade the fish body, causing disease outbreaks. Therefore, how to systematically prevent outbreaks of fish and shrimp diseases is not only a way to reduce aquaculture costs but also an extremely important approach to eliminating disease occurrence.

Yuanzheng Disinfectant No. 2 (for fish and shrimp) is a compound aquatic disinfectant successfully developed by our company using German production technology and advanced processes, through multi-step synthesis and complexation of a powerful antiviral factor (iodine). It has super-strong bactericidal and virucidal, deodorizing, and water quality improving effects. Compared with other types of disinfectants such as chlorine-containing disinfectants, it has the characteristics of strong resistance to organic matter, strong resistance to hard water, no irritation, no toxic side effects, and an effective action time in water of up to 7-10 days or more.

Based on the current epidemic characteristics of fish and shrimp diseases, especially freshwater and marine shrimp diseases, combined with Yuanzheng Disinfectant No. 2 (for fish and shrimp), the method of systematic prevention of fish and shrimp diseases can achieve relatively good results. The specific methods are as follows:

1. Pond clearing and disinfection. Before using the fish and shrimp fry pond, use Yuanzheng Disinfectant No. 2 (for fish and shrimp) for pond clearing and disinfection with water in the pond, splashing the whole pond. The dosage is 750-1500ml per mu of water surface at a depth of 1 m, and fry are released after 5-7 days; alternatively, first use bleaching powder for disinfection with water in the pond, splashing the whole pond, with a dosage of 13-15kg per mu of water surface at a depth of 1 m, and after 3-4 days use Yuanzheng Disinfectant No. 2 (for fish and shrimp) for a second disinfection, splashing the whole pond, with a dosage of 500-1000ml per mu of water surface at a depth of 1 m, and release fry after 3 days. Both of the above methods can kill most pathogenic microorganisms in the water body.

2. Stock fish and shrimp fry with robust constitution that do not carry pathogenic microorganisms, and handle them carefully to avoid injuring the fish body.

3. Fry disinfection. Before the fry are put into the pond, place them in a large barrel or large basin, and bathe them (body surface disinfection) at 0.5-1ml of Yuanzheng Disinfectant No. 2 (for fish and shrimp) per 1 cubic meter of water. After 20 minutes, put them into the pond. This can kill most pathogenic microorganisms on the body surface.

4. Strengthen feeding management, ensure the nutritional needs of the fish, and maintain the pond water as fertile, lively, tender, and refreshing, reducing the occurrence of various environmental stresses.

5. Preventive disinfection. During the disease-prone season from April to June, regularly use Yuanzheng Disinfectant No. 2 (for fish and shrimp) at 100-200ml per mu of water surface at a depth of 1 m, splashing the whole pond. Once every 10 days for preventive disinfection; or use Yukangning (produced by our company) at 100g per 100kg of fish body weight mixed with bait and fed, twice a month, 5 days each time. Both can prevent the occurrence of most fish and shrimp diseases.

6. Treatment. After fish disease occurs, immediately use Yuanzheng Disinfectant No. 2 (for fish and shrimp) at 200-400ml per mu of water surface at a depth of 1 m, splashing the whole pond, twice a week (with a 3-day interval), for 2 consecutive weeks, until recovery; at the same time, if combined with Yukangning at 100g per 100kg of fish body weight mixed with bait and fed for 5 consecutive days, once a day, an excellent therapeutic effect can be achieved.

7. Precautions.

a. When using Yuanzheng Disinfectant No. 2 (for fish and shrimp), first dilute it about 300 times, then evenly sprinkle it into the fish pond while turning on the aerator (20-30 minutes).

b. When using Yuanzheng Disinfectant No. 2 (for fish and shrimp), please choose to apply the medicine at around 10 a.m. or 6 p.m. on a sunny day for the best effect.

c. After splashing, foam floating on the pond surface is a normal phenomenon and has no harmful effect on fish and shrimp.

Note: After adopting the above systematic prevention and control measures, the occurrence of most fish diseases can basically be eliminated, especially shrimp white spot baculovirus disease, hepatopancreatic virus disease, vibriosis, swollen gills, black gills, yellow gills, red leg disease, and ciliate disease, as well as explosive hemorrhagic septicemia, gill rot, enteritis, red skin disease, print disease in domestic fish, and bacterial and viral diseases in river crabs, eels, soft-shelled turtles, etc.
