Detailed Explanation of Broodstock Selection and Cultivation Methods
1. Pond conditions: Prepare two ponds, each with an area of 2-3 mu, namely the male parent cultivation pond and the female parent cultivation pond. The pond depth is required to be 2 m, the pond slopes must not seep water, the pond bottom must be flat and free of weeds, and water filling and drainage must be convenient. Drain the pond water 30 days before stocking the broodstock. 7-10 days before stocking, fill with water to a depth of 5-8 cm, and use 125 kg of quicklime per mu to clear the pond and disinfect it.
2. Broodstock selection: Select 2-year-old allogynogenetic silver crucian carp as the female parent, requiring a tail weight of more than 600 g, normal body shape, silver-gray body color, and a glossy appearance; select local male common carp (commonly known as Taihu carp) with a tail weight of 800-1200 g and neat scales as the male parent. The ratio of the two is 1-1.5:1.
3. Broodstock cultivation: Allogynogenetic silver crucian carp and common carp are cultivated separately in dedicated ponds. In winter, feed on clear and fine days, with a feeding rate of 1-1.5%. When the water temperature reaches 5 degrees C, increase the feeding amount, gradually increasing the feeding rate from 1.5% to 3%, mainly feeding pellet feed. Keep the water quality of the broodstock pond good, with sufficient dissolved oxygen and a transparency of about 30 cm. During overwintering, raise the water level to 1.5 m to facilitate safe overwintering of the broodstock. After the beginning of spring, choose clear and fine days to change the water, changing 10-15 cm of water depth each day. When the water temperature reaches 12 degrees C, lower the water level to 60-80 cm.
