How to prepare feed during snake farming?
(1) Live animals Snakes are primarily carnivorous reptiles, and their feed sources are extensive. Snakes mainly feed by swallowing, and they can swallow small animals several times larger than their own heads. Moreover, snakes' eyes easily detect moving objects, so in principle live small animals should be fed, such as nutrient-rich frogs, rodents, fish, birds, @#@254@#@, rabbits, chickens, @#@260@#@, etc.
Different species of snakes have different requirements for feed. Generally speaking, the many-banded krait likes to eat eels and @#@237@#@; cobras prefer to feed on rodents; the king cobra specifically eats snakes and lizards; and the sharp-nosed pit viper and the pit viper not only eat rodents and frogs but also prey on birds.
(2) Artificial synthetic pellet feed To reduce feed costs and enable snakes to obtain a complete-nutrition feed, artificial synthetic pellet feed must be developed. Preparing pellet feed for snakes requires solving two problems. First, it is necessary to know the various nutrients required for snake growth, development and reproduction, so as to formulate feeding standards and prepare pellet feed containing complete nutrition according to the feeding standards. Second, the problem of snakes eating pellet feed must be solved. At present, artificial synthetic pellet feed is mainly made by mixing crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, and minerals such as phosphorus and calcium, and vitamins A and B with an appropriate amount of water, pouring the mixture into sausage casing to make sausages, and mixing in a smell attractant to induce snakes to eat. To make it easier for snakes to detect moving objects, a vibrating feed table is used, or a few loaches or earthworms are placed among the pellet feed to drive the pellet feed to move. Pellet feed must contain complete nutrition and have good palatability.
