Abroad, snake powder is used relatively commonly. Japan places particular emphasis on pit viper, calling it "hanabi," and believes it has the medicinal effects of enriching the blood, strengthening the body, eliminating fatigue, or detoxifying. It is often made into "black roast" by a method similar to China's charcoal-roasting while preserving its nature, then ground and taken.

3. Uses of snake gall

Snake gall is a precious traditional Chinese medicinal material with multiple medicinal values, and its chemical composition is roughly similar to that of mammalian bile. Bile mainly contains bile salts, phospholipids, cholesterol and its esters, and bile pigments, and it helps the snake body digest and absorb fat and detoxify. Snake gall is sweet, bitter, and cold in nature, and can calm the liver, extinguish wind, and detoxify. When used as medicine, snake gall can search out wind and remove dampness, clear fire, and improve vision. The main ingredients of snake gall Chuanbei loquat paste are snake bile, Chuanbei, pinellia, loquat leaf, platycodon, menthol, and so on, and it has effects such as relieving cough, eliminating phlegm, relieving asthma, anti-inflammation, and inhibiting bacteria. Clinically, it has a significant effect on cough with excessive phlegm, chest tightness, asthma, and other conditions. Place fresh snake gall in a tile dish, take out the bile, mix it into white liquor of more than 50 degrees, separately add processed dried tangerine peel, dried ginger, or pepper, soak thoroughly, then take out and sun-dry, thus making three-snake-gall tangerine peel, three-snake-gall ginger, and three-snake-gall pepper, which have the effect of dispelling wind and stopping phlegm. Cut open the snake gallbladder and soak it in liquor to make snake gall liquor. For every 500 milliliters of white rice liquor of more than 50 degrees, add 2 to 3 snake galls, and take it after soaking for 1 month. Its effect is the same as three-snake liquor.
